Balingup Medieval Carnivale 2026… what an absolutely wild weekend! 🐉

After around 2½ months of making, glazing, firing and preparing, we packed up the Hatchery and headed to Balingup — and somehow managed to sell out on the first day!

In this very chatty market wrap-up, Nat from Mud Magic joins me to talk about the weekend, what sold, what we learned, some of the wonderfully strange moments along the way, and of course… the numbers.

I share my actual sales figures in this video, as I usually do in my market wrap-ups. I know money can be a funny thing to talk about, but I believe there is value in being open about the business side of being a working ceramic artist. Please remember that every artist, market and audience is different, and these numbers aren't something anyone should use to measure their own success against. This was an extraordinary result that I'm still trying to wrap my head around!

More than anything, though, this weekend reminded me that none of this happens alone.

A massive thank you to Nat, Abbi, Mum, Paul, Dad and Greg for everything you did — from helping make and glaze things beforehand, decorating and setting up, running the stall, wrapping pottery, working the POS, chauffeuring, packing down and generally keeping me functioning when I was sick and absolutely exhausted. I genuinely couldn't have done Saturday without you.

And an enormous thank you to everyone who came to visit the Hatchery at Balingup. To those who adopted dragons, bought mugs, came back to see me again, stopped for a chat, or simply followed along with my slightly ridiculous Road to Balingup from home — thank you. The response to my work was beyond anything I could have imagined.

Balingup, you were incredible. ❤️🐉

There are still several Road to Balingup kiln openings coming too… because apparently actually making all this pottery got in the way of editing the videos about making all this pottery. 😂
