Excellent review. You seemed to be hitting very well with this racquet, especially slice backhands. I don’t get to play tennis as often as I’d like, let alone try new racquets, so I appreciate the perspective.

Also, not sure if you took my suggestion from the last video but I like your more subtle thumbnail on this video!

Would love to hit with you someday on that green court with the hedge along the side. It’s very quaint.

I also main Head Speed MP like you, and have enjoyed my time with the Defyer100. Biggest concern for me as of right now is the Wilson grip/buttcap, bit difficult to get used to compared to the one on Head and Yonex rackets. I could pick up the Defyer100 and just play with it, no adjustments needed really. And that is a really, really good feature in a racket. Spin, control and enough power was there. My 2h backhand was working from the get go. So yeah, really like it so far. But my Speed Legend MPs are still the one I go to battle with in matches, I will however keep trying the D100 going forward. Alongside my Diadem Project Bublik 98. Got too many rackets to try with so little on court time these days

Racket served you well today mate, got my sub.

Great review! Tried out the 98 and 100 over the last few weeks and decided on the 100. Been playing a few months after a long hiatus and felt like the 98 was at times just too demanding and would make me loose confidence and play too timid. I played forever with a Prince Exo Tour 100 18x20 which was control all the way. This feels like a nice bridge to gain more power and get a lift with the spin potential as well. Also felt so easy to play with for a long time which makes me more comfortable being a little injury worrisome.

I feel the exact same way bought two 98s right away and end up playing the 100 most of the time

Do you go with the same string hybrid on the 98 ?

The 100 is a surprisingly fantastic racquet.

Great review as always, thank you!

I've moved from a Percept 100 to a Speed MP, and looking for something with a bigger sweet spot, slightly higher launch and more power. Have been looking at this and the Extreme MP. What would you say are the main differences between them? From what you've said it sounds like the Extreme is more powerful (and probably more forgiving off-centre?) but this Defyer is more controlled. Sound fair?

Are you doing an Extreme MP review?

Cheers!

Thanks Andy, nice review - did you have any comments or thoughts on grip size of the defyer? i.e. did you feel the need to  reduce by 1 size or did the leather grip change keep you to your usual grip size? I had heard that the grip size seemed on the large size. Thanks again!

Nice review! You felt the D100 had more maneuverability than Aero 100? Curious because Tennis Warehouse swing weight listed at 326 for D100 and 320 for Aero100. Interested to hear if you have an idea what accounts for the maneuverable feel?
