There's a special place in Hell for people like him!!  What a waste of such a beautiful family. May they all find peace and happiness in heaven!!

This guy was such a selfish, self righteous JERK!  Kills all three of his children - innocent in their lives - goes on his life!  What a prick!!!

List’s actions are an almost textbook example of familicide. His personality explains exactly why he did it.

He was living one street away from mine in Midlothian Va. when apprehended.A friend of mine lived on his street and would do yard work for him. He blended in well and seemed totally normal. Just a regular old man. You never know when your neighbor is a murderer on the run from the FBI !

I grew up nearby and remember when they caught him. It was front page news.

If he was so full of shame because he couldn't hold a job, then take your own life, why kill your family, who had nothing to do with your problem to begin with

The man saying that he was not a psychopath or a sociopath and that he had a conscience 😆🙄🤦‍♀️

John List
Born:September 17, 1925, Bay City, MI
Died:March 21, 2008 (age 82 years), Capital Health – East Trenton, Trenton, NJ
At the age of 46,he killed his wife ( Helen List -married 1951, murdered 1971) , mother ( Alma, aged 85) , and three children in their Westfield, New Jersey home on November 9, 1971.
He met his second wife (Delores Miller) at a church social gathering in 1977 and married her in 1985.
They lived in the Denver area, where List worked as an accountant, before moving to Richmond, Virginia.
Delores was stunned by his arrest in June 1989, telling the Los Angeles Times that the man she knew was a "kind, loving, a devoted husband, and a dear friend" and that the charges were unbelievable. She divorced List in 1989 following his arrest.

Forensic Files ran an episode on this case as well; for somebody to claim that killing their entire family & 'hoping' they would be 'sent to heaven', while using his financial problems & archaic religious beliefs as an excuse for his gruesome crime, when in fact he'd casually mapped out his plan of work for WEEKS prior to the killings( closing their bank accounts in advance, cutting off newspaper & milk delivery to the house which was actually a regular routine during that time, fibbing stories to friends & neighbors that the family was leaving town to take care of an ill relative ), it really exposed how cold & manipulative the man truly was in real life. Putting on a facade of being just an average 'working man' taking care of his family when, underneath all of that, was somebody who was seething down deep, resentful towards his own family members, could not keep a job regardless of whatever qualifications he carried, he could have any OTHER method to address his problems. But he took the easy way out. He put a bullet in each member of his family and then calmly walked away and started a whole new life like none of it really mattered to him all along. A more sociopathic individual than anyone had ever really known.

America’s Most Wanted’s greatest capture. It wasn’t DNA or initially his fingerprints . The image from the forensic sculptor was the key in finding him. After his capture and matching his fingerprints, he confessed.

Oh I see that bastard thought not paying debt means you go to hell but slaughtering your family is a okay 🙄 sick creep hope he’s rotting

It’s really sad they never got the chance to live; he was selfish.

patricia was frends with a guy and to this day that guy still cries about a true story about him and Patricia. They wer starting to see eachother and they decided they would meet in a barn house nearby in order to lie down together in private and kiss and hug. It made him so sad telling this story about he saw Patricia carrying this big mattress all by herself to the barn house for them to lay down on. They did kiss together but the next day he was sitting in a car with a different girl and Patricia walked over to them and he can't forget the stunned look of sadness and shock on patty's face but she said nothing patty was hurt and the guy cries to this day bekoz he believes he was acting like he was so special wen he did that and he still feels so bad bekoz he could see the sad expression on patty's face and he wasn't even close with the other girl- he was just acting like he thought he was cool. Listen to the podcast if you can they guy starts crying about it then two days later patty died. Patty told her drama teacher that her dad said some awfully creepy things and she said exactly what her dad John List said and it matches this documentary and patty was almost hysterical bekoz she trusted her drama teacher- i forget his name- and he didn't seem to think it was anything to worry about but he said patty was almost hysterical. It was at rehearsal wen patty told him what her dad had asked all of them about cremation or burial and all that and patty was very scared. That was a couple of days before it happened. Notice how attractive Patty was? John List was probably a narcissist type parent who was so jealous that Patty was so good-looking and she was also self-confident and he was the opposite. I think he was simply a malignant narcissist-type parent jealous of his daughter

On My Favorite Murder podcast they stated that the chandelier in the ballroom was an authentic Tiffany and in the worst irony ever, was worth so much it would have gotten him out of debt. Such a tragic story. May the victims rest.

It's sad to see a nice family being murdered because the father was going broke he was a sick man to do that lots of people go broke but you have to move on

A whole lot of blaming the women in his life for his behavior - according to this, the only victims were him and his sons. geesh.

I remember when this happened I was 7yrs old. Close by where i lived. For years i wondered why did the i know about this, i was 7!
Scared the HELL out of me back that.

Poor kids 😢

“He was not a psychopath, sociopath or without conscience”
No, he only murdered his whole family in cold blood then went on to form a whole new life under an alias.
