Julie, you did a wonderful job on your boy gingerbread. He was adorable. Your tray was so festive. I loved the history lesson you gave us about gingerbread

Love gingerbread men, been collecting some form of them for many years. My fave is a handmade gingerbread chime hanging in my kitchen all year round, I love the soft sound the metal chimes makes. Love your history on these things. Great Job, love the very first gingie

I think it turned out cute. After all, in real life, unless you're professional cookie decorator, there's going to be the extra blobs of icing. However, a very easy trick to making these things even is you take a piece of paper, fold it in half, measure half the head (like, trace the shape of half head on it, so that you get the proper scale, and then draw one eye, one eyebrow, half the mouth, and whatever features you want on the face. Then, just cut those out and then open the paper. You'll give yourself a perfectly even stencil.

So Cute! When I use Dollar Tree wood I always paint 2 coats. First coat to kind of seal the wood then the second coat for the actual color. I am off to Dollar Tree tomorrow to look for these Gingerbread men!
