"AI is trained on what has been done. It's not trained on innovating." Great quote!

Even as advanced engineer this looks super cool to me

One thing aside of AI, I love how plugins have become more & more visually appealing. I can mute it and it's beautiful (although not useful)

These are the FAST plugins with a different skin.

I actually like these "new" plugins a lot more than their smart and pure series, it feels like it falls right in-between them. The pure series has very little control, so it's not very suitable for mixing, and the smart series has a lot of control, but the AI takes front seat in the design so much that you need to seriously ask yourself if you want to change it. This one still "corrects" the audio, but it also invites you to challenge the AI and change it.

I've added the unmask, compressor and EQ to low impact tracks in my mixing and it really sped things up a bit, even though I own all smart plugins (except reverb because it kinda sucks). I think they're good, have very low CPU usage and are straight to the point, which are the three things you should be prioritizing when mixing.

Edit: just a sidenote, but I think what you want from unmask is what already happens in smart:EQ. You can use it for unmasking only but I think it's a little clunky for that purpose. Try that idea on a video: add smart:EQ in unmask mode in all tracks of a finished mix, set the hierarchy of the tracks and see if it makes that mix even better.

Learn:comp has all the controls it needs. Plus it's great visually.

Do love the idea of the "distortion' shirt, but I think the image itself looks more like buildings somehow, not waveforms. Maybe it helps? Looking forward to an updated version, I'll combine it with a black "I don't read the manual" shirt.

On the topic of sidechain, I was watcing this John Mayer Ed Sheeran video and the producer talks about Pino side-chaining himself by playing just a little bit later than the kick. Interesting but only Pino can pull off something like that.

I love your take about tutorials and courses, I find your insights very logical and practical, your views are invaluable and rare.

eq is usually the hardest thing for me, so this is a gamechanger!

I had these when they were the focusrite FAST bundle (end of life soon/discontinued) and preferred them over their pure sonible counterparts. Not sure how these are easier/quicker but I love this series

This is $24.50 for anyone with any SSL hardware/interfaces. I wasn't even considering it until I watched this but reckon it's a nice addition to the toolbox. Purchased.

Interesting! I'm pretty sold on it for 49 bucks

the FAST plugins where great, glad that they are living on in this bundle.

That's the thing with teaching. You teach people the tools and understanding to get to the answers themselves

the great thing about having a mentor is, the teacher and the student are both in the same room listening to the same speakers.

On the teaching stuff, I do professional photography and it's the exact same thing. Probably worse. Beginners/hobbyists will absolutely obsess over the exposure triangle - Iso, aperture, shutter speed. I have watched them writing down all the settings, hundreds of them in a little book for shots that were taken, and these are the people that never seem learn WHY the photographer chose those settings and no matter how many times I told them, it never sunk in that they could get the exact same shot with multiple different settings or that the light they will be in is different to the other photographers shot and thus your settings can't be exactly the same anyway. Years in, they're still writing down settings of shots others have taken and they have no confidence to just do the settings themselves - and this is all the easy part. If you cannot get that exposure triangle nailed pretty quickly, good luck with the lighting, you're gonna need it. Copying others settings can initially help you get off the ground when you are first starting, but it's usefulness is extremely limited and using it as a crutch will see you destined to fail. If you don't learn why particular settings were chosen, you basically get nowhere.

I don't see the issue with the compressor. If you want to adjust anything go to detailed section and you have control over everything.

All those years working on your thumbnail face was time well spent...
