Nintendo had the wildest crossovers back then:
- Link in Soul Calibur 2
- Mario, Luigi and Peach in a NBA game.
- Wario and Bomberman.

I miss this unhinged era.

The funny thing is despite this being the most popular soul calibur, Seigfried (the Ryu of the franchise) is currently not in it cause he’s possessed by Nightmare. From 3 onwards they’re separate characters.

Link being in fighting game that isn’t Smash Bros is a huge deal.

One thing i really respect Soul Calibur 2 Link is that they didn't just recycled Ocarina of Time Voice clips and had Nobuyuki Hiyama do a fresh performance for the game. (after all, he was already voicing Nightmare and Yoshimitsu)

3:20 Link grabbed his foot after getting poked! This is the kind of stun animation I want to see in modern games!

As someone who played SC2 a whole bunch back in the day I can confirm that Brent was using all the OP moves.

On close inspection, Maxi is definitely a "Brent Character" for sure. Soul Calibur II really highlighted how different multiplatform games used to be back then, as there were multiplatform games that would have content exclusive to that version, and in this game's case, you either wanted Link, Spawn, or Heihachi, depending on your platform of choice.

By the way, Mitsurugi kind of reminds me of the Onimusha games, have you ever played them? If not, I recommend trying them out. (It even got a weird fighting game spin-off)

5:00 i'm surprised that Brent didnt say anything about this grab animation
100% sure Nick or Sophist would scream "AYO!?"

15:34 To answer your question on who the main character is:
-Kilik and Xianghua are the protags of SC1 (and 6 because it's a retelling of 1)
-Siegfried is the main character of SC2-4 (In SC2 he's Nightmare then they split off into separate beings)
-Sophitia's children are the focus in SC5
Overall, Siegfried and Nightmare tend to have the most focus in these games, and sometimes they're the same person and sometimes not.

You and the other Crashers should play Soul Calibur 6, but use the Create a Soul feature to create versions of yourselves and then fight against each other

"Oh yeah, you can Down A in this game!" My brain automatically: Do it again.

Nightmare would be a perfect character for Smash. Another villain, he uses a greatsword, evil knight with a vicious fighting style. Hell he's one of the few SC characters that could have a recovery move. You'd need to stretch a little but he could have one.

11:55 Yep. Maxi was the captain of a pirate crew (they were good people, actually. Pretty much Maxi's family), but one day, Astaroth killed them while leading some Lizardmen on a bit of a raid. Maxi's been out for revenge ever since. Maxi often wins and kills him, but Astaroth always gets revived or remade.

5:38 Not only Raphael is tall, Link is really short. like, absurdly short. shorter than a 15 years old girl (Talim) who is the shortest character native to Soul Calibur.

It's crazy to think that Link, Heihachi and even Spawn are in this game, even if on different console versions

2:52 I was praying for Nightmare to make it into Brawl. Would've been a fantastic addition!

8:03 that backflip kick is definitely straight out from Marshal Law’s move I love the similarities

Wait :
That dodge from Voldo at 8:50 was so sick

Hopefully he'll do Weapon Master mode, which is basically a story mode of this game

People playing Soul Calibur 2 for the first time makes me feel a little bittersweet because its underrated but also because there will most likely never be more Soul Calibur games and its always been my favorite fighting game series
