Did the exact same thing with my M7. Full CLA, updated DX Code reader and MP finder glair reducer screen. Worth every penny. But that 4.5 months was a painful 4.5 months wait. But I’m a happy camper now.

Congratulations on getting your Leica back. That has to be fun to shoot. I sent in my Nikon F3 to get a CLA and shutter speeds repaired. It came back looking great, but the shutter speeds were still 1 to 3 stops slow. I had to send it back. I will feel much better when I have it back in good working order. Have fun.

I just dropped my M7 at Leica in Teaneck NJ because I am fortunate enough to live in the area. An amazing experience going to that office, which is an office, not a store. You need an appointment. Staff is wonderful. They had me meet a person in a small conference room to fully explain all that I wanted done. For my M7, the ISO was not reading consistently and even in manual override, it did not register. I had to press down on the ISO dial to have it register. Also had LED segments missing. It will be expensive and 3-4 months in NJ, where they do fix these in NJ, until I will have it back. Total cost is about $1400 but could go up if more repairs are needed. Hopefully going forward it will be simpler to maintain and more reasonable. I asked my concierge which other cameras they still serviced and its M3 and up except the M5. She told me don't buy an M5 🙂 But she knows there are people who love them.

Good review, and you answered a couple of questions I've been wondering.

I just bought a "like new" chrome MP from KEH that's having issues with the low battery indicator flashing with new batteries in it.

My "normal" Leica tech, Don Goldberg at "DAG" (who normally takes 3-5 months FYI) says he can't fix the problem because he lacks the software to troubleshoot the fault. KEH says they can't "replicate the issue' after 2 trips back since I bought it in March this year.

I was planning on contacting Leica New Jersy when it comes back this week from KEH the 2nd time and seeing what having them service it would involve. 6 months ain't bad, and $1k is about what I am expecting. Since I paid $5K for the MP and it's got the rare ,85 viewfinder it's still better than a new 1.

Now you got me thinking about a M7. i don't need it, I've 2 M5's, an M6 "Classic" and a M3......but who knows
