So good you're making Aussie friends through joining in. So many English people just seem to mix with other English. Best wishes. 😊

We moved to Perth 20 years ago. Not from the UK. Never been to Australia before Came on a visa now 16 years as a citizen. Never looked back family of 4. Youngest was 13 months old. Best move ever. FYI great vid.

Something you dont think of when you’re here with young children and no extended family, Is that as the kids grow up and marry, the family circle gets bigger, grandchildren too.
So we were the pioneers for a whole family unit growing like the early settlers, populating Australia. I’m proud of that now.

Perth is the true Aussie dream lifestyle with incredible weather and beaches that are by far the best in the country.

A better Timezone to the uk and a one way flight to see family. Not as crowded as the east coast either.

Can see why lots of expats love it, what a place.

Will migrate from the east coast over there one day.

We have a friend visit from UK each year and he was vegan so hard to cook for!
He kept looking for a certain meat substitute here but couldn’t find it.
So I called into the David jones food hall thinking they’d stock this product and was told they knew of this item but didn’t have it because it hadn’t passed the Australian Food Standards Test for import!
So we have high quality food here all checked and approved in our shops. 👍

For me, I weighed up moving (from the UK) to Australia on temp visa versus PR for some time. Prob wasted several thousands on English tests, skill assessments etc to get the ball rolling. Every time I thought I was close to applying, the visa goalposts changed and there was some other problem e.g. needing more points. Covid then derailed a job offer but in the end I managed to get the global talent PR visa whilst still in the UK. For us, being able to do big life things like starting a family, buying a house etc. was really important. Temp visa holders don't get medicare (recipricol agreements e.g. with NHS still don't cover much outside emergencies), no childcare subsidy and are massively restricted when buying property. Been here 5 years now and just got citizenship and own our own place and started a family whilst in my early 30s. As for getting to know people, it is pretty hard. I'm into the outdoors so have made friends through rock climbing clubs. As a vegetarian in Perth, I have to say it's way worse than the UK which tbh is pretty great for that. It's a price to pay for the other positives about living here. I'll probably live in the UK again for several years in the future, but will work towards having a life to come back to in Australia. I don't see a reason to choose one over the other forever when having the benefit of dual citizenship.

WA has this weird system of Fuel pricing.

Tailgating on the Kwinana Freeway in Perth is bad, really bad.

All restaurants in Melbourne have vegetarian and vegan options. Also coles has a big freezer vegetarian section and cool vegetarian section.

When you say 'if there is anyone watching who', just to let you know:

We've been watching your channel for years
We decided to move to Perth last year (after a three week holiday)
My wife is a psychologist and currently having her skills assessment with the APS
We are applying for PR
We are both vegan

This video literally could not be more relevant for us. Thank you for this, and all your content over the years! We can't wait to be proud Aussies as well as part of the wonderful expat community.

we are at the start of our adventure and think we want to go to adelaide as it looks good and perth houseing has gone through the roof ...

Since Covid, property prices have surged. Perth is showing no signs of slowing down. First home buyers generally need 2 incomes to have any hope of getting on the property ladder.

That sounds awesome! My family and I have been to Australia several times and we want to live and work there so badly. The only problem is the visa. We’ve already applied for the 190 and 491, but we probably don’t have enough points. It always sounds so easy to get the visa, but we’d need Superior English to improve our score, which is very hard as a non-native English speaker.

Hi, love your videos! My Daughter is also called Aurora. I have living in the UK for 15 years, unfortunately I'm 47 and getting a PR visa seems like an impossible dream now.
