Guitarists when playing a guitar in a store: “I can fix her” 🔥🔥🔥

Years ago friend took a Gretsch White Falcon down off the wall in a  local music shop. The store attendant came dashing over and says nervously can I help you sir, shall I get an amp to plug you in? He says "fuck the amp, get me a mirror!"

For me, when I’m adding a guitar, my criteria is to add something I don’t already have

You'll never end up buying the wrong guitar... if you just keep buying ALL the guitars.

Staying is tune is top of the list by a long shot.

I have the overwhelming talent of making the most expensive axe sound like crap :face-blue-smiling:

"Caring screwed me."
Tell me about it.

I always hated the look of a Strat and still think the Les Paul is the prettiest guitar ever. Turns out the Les Paul is the most uncomfortable and miserable thing to play and the Strat feels like it was made for me. I sometimes put my Les Paul on a stand so I can at least admire it's looks while I play a Strat.

I managed a record store in the 80s, and we had Lita Ford in for an in-store autograph session. She smelled wonderful, and was super nice. Just had to say it.

Oh man this is all so true! I'm 76 now and what matters most is something I can place on my lap, where I don't have to bend over it. For me that would have to be a semi-hollow bodied guitar, like a 335, or inexpensive alternative. How it plays is most important, light strings and low action. I can leave how it sounds to the addition of pedals and/or DAW modellers. ALL about comfort, but play I must!

I bought a PRS SE DGT limited edition a couple of weeks ago, and after a week of international shipping, the guitar arrived tuned, with perfect intonation, perfect action, perfect neck profile, the sound is amazing… I can’t stop playing this guitar

If you write that stuff down, you dont come home with a Thunderbird five string

As a longtime time Les Paul player, I've recently discovered that the 25" scale on PRS guitars is just right. Picked up a DGT se recently, and love the sale length.

Every guitar you buy is a compromise.  I've never bought a guitar that met all my requirements.  I've come close but never found the "perfect" guitar.  Unless you go full custom, you almost always end up compromising.

My first guitar was a squire strat. Like millions of others, I loved Angus and wanted an SG, so I got one. As I got better, I grew to not like the SG, the feel, and I couldn't get the sounds and squelch and squeals out of it that I got even on the Squire. So I bought a real Strat and I've been in love ever since. It just fits me.

Somewhere, Paul is punching a wall. 😂

My local guitar shop guy needed a small sized stereo receiver to fit on a shelf at home, I had one and he offered a new T-style JB Player body in trade (score). A couple weeks later I got deal on a slightly used JB tele neck, a used bridge for five bucks, some Schaller mini machines, a 3 way, 1 volume, a Full Shred and a stacked EMG. It's been halfway around the world and back, and on every gig for nearly 40 years. 🤓

way too early in the morning to drop an intro like that, nearly spat out my coffee

This reminds me of one short video I watched with Tim Henson. He was asked to choose between a Ferrari and a Porsche, and he has given a wonderful answer: he understands that Porsche is way better, faster, comfortable and reliable than Ferrari, but it just looks kind of boring. Said probably when he's older he'd 100% choose a Porsche, but now he's young and blood runs hot, so he picks a Ferrari, because it screams with its image. This video kind of reminded me of this analogy

"Gibsons through Peaveys".  Good one.  Totally true.
