i usually just lurk instead of commenting, but as someone who is severely anxious i love your videos. it means a lot to me that you don’t scream/yell in your videos or talk down to the viewers. a lot of poketubers make my anxiety worse when watching because they yell and the videos are too fast-paced, but you and check the box are so much fun to watch and super chill. i know it’s a small thing but it means a lot to a lot of people that you make videos that are accessible. thank you :p

“Chill, boring dude” lol man I’m just sitting here listening and enjoying being nostalgic!
You talked about opening jungle around your birthday and it immediately took me back to getting a pack of base set for my birthday from my best friend.
It had charizard on the packaging and wouldn’t you know it… I pulled the base set charizard! I kept saying to him “how did you know?! How did you know?!” Like I thought somehow he gave me that pack on purpose😭
Flash forward to last week when 30th released and I got one knockout box from my dad from Pokemon center… went to his house… opened the first pack… and there lo and behold… was the 30th charizard… I was dumbfounded… tears welled up in my eyes that 30 years ago I was opening packs in that very same childhood home and pulling the same looking charizard… it just gave me that feeling of being a kid again.
I’m glad I get to share these memories with my kids and grateful that you offered us this space to share them here (not to mention that you said you read every comment so it doesn’t feel like I’m sharing into the void…)
Thanks for all you do, and I hope you continuing ripping packs well into the 60th anniversary 😂

Man I feel so understood and warm watching your videos. I don’t how to put it but it’s comforting feeling, almost healing. Outside of my family I didn’t really got to share my hobby with people I remember even feeling ashamed about liking Pokémon well into my Teens and that feeling still lingers somewhere deep when I engage with Pokémon but it’s my comfort.
But I have such beautiful memories with my brothers and mom opening packs and sharing the excitement it was a little family thing. Now 25 years later we’re all again engaging in the hobby and even go to shows together me being 30, my mom being 54 and my brother too well into their 20‘s. Its beautiful. I vividly remember going to the dentist for the first time and my mom rewarding me for my bravery with a fossil booster pack and me wanting the zapdos which I pulled in that pack. ❤

Thank you from Germany for rekindling those memories and emotions!

One of my absolute favorite memories of early Pokémon was begging my mom to take me to see Mewtwo Strikes Back in theaters, and her finally giving in. But because she was freshly postpartum, she fell asleep as soon as the lights dimmed and snored through the whole movie. I remember being torn between “This is SO COOL!” and “Mom, please wake up. Everyone is staring.”

I also remember after I cut my foot and needed stitches, my parents wanted to reward me for handling the whole thing like a champ. They asked me what I wanted, and I said one of the gold cards from Burger King. I got the Charizard that day, and was so excited.

So glad to be making memories like this and sharing Pokémon with my daughter now.

Your pokemon videos are very calming. My absolute favorite pokemon content creator to watch and I get excited whenever you upload new videos. I'm autistic and have adhd. I prefer peace and quietness. I myself, have been a huge fan of Pokémon since the 90s. My first game was Silver which my mom got me at Walmart. Then my dad bought my Blue at Fry's Electronics. I remember I would leave my atomic clear purple Game Boy Color on at night to listen to Goldenrod City to sleep. Ran out of so many batteries. Got into Pokémon cards during the same time. All my cards got stolen by older kids on the schoolbus and the same happened with my Yu Gi Oh cards. Love your videos man. Keep it up.

I was also 8-9 years old when base set first came out. My dad was a smoker back then and I remember always going to the 7/11 near us. He would always make sure to buy my brother and I a pack whenever he went to go buy his cigs. That’s my memory of pokemon as a kid ❤️

My childhood memory is being 2nd in queue at Woolworths with my Mum to buy some packs. At the time, there was base set, fossil and jungle in stock. The boy in front of me asked for 6 packs of base, and 2 sets each of fossil and jungle, but decided to put 2 packs of base back to get an extra jungle and fossil pack. My Mum bought me the base packs and one of the packs that the boy in front put back had a Charizard in it.

Hey, found your channel today and just wanted to say you are one of my new favorite people to watch for Pokémon card content. I love how chill your videos are. No loud obnoxious music or yelling and screaming after each hit for "engagement". Just a quiet enjoyment of the cards you pull and the nostalgia you have with it. You seem to genuinely enjoy all the cards not just the hits. Sure you by from resellers, but I like how you don't focus on market value and you don't create fomo over getting these cards.  You got a new subscriber today and can't wait to see more of your videos in the future.

I was 15 when Pokemon first came out, so not much "kid" left in me, but it brought me back to those younger days....playing the games and trading to get all 151...and then when the TCG started I became a coach in my local Pokemon League and spent a lot of time mentoring young trainers and giving out lots of promo cards!

I was 9 as well when pokemon came out. Me and my younger brother share a core memory of the Christmas when we were big into the cards and we woke up to a huge pile of base set booster packs fanned out in front of our tree and we we're soo excited all we wanted to do was rip the packs we hardly paid attention to the other gifts. I still have the cards I pulled that Christmas in my base set binder 30 years later.

I was also around 8 when Pokemon came out and was instantly obsessed. I liked trading cards with my friends just based on how much we liked the cards and not caring on specific vaule. I got a teal gameboy color and Pokemon Yellow and must have played through that game so many times.

monster rancher mentioned 🗣 i love hearing about people's childhood memories with pokemon, especially 90s kids, so many different experiences but also so similar!

i don't have too many memories of my childhood but i definitely remember getting the golden cards from burger king (and i still have them + the shiny pokeballs they came in!) and i definitely opened a lot of neo era cards. i had been playing the games with my sister since red and blue, but i didn't know how to read yet at that point...! gold and silver game out when i COULD read so i have more attachment to that era and those cards!

I rescued a ziplock bag of my old Tomy figures while clearing out my dad's cellar earlier this year, including the Mankey and Primape you showed on screen. My kids and my friends' kids were really excited to play with them all when I had folks round for my birthday a few weeks ago. An awesome feeling seeing them loved again!

Awesome video! I graduated high school in 98 and didn't really get into any pokemon till I downloaded Pokemon go in 2018ish to give me something to do with my eldest kid on the way to the bus. We started collecting more this year with pitch black. My kid asked me to take him to a card show and now we go to a card show or two a month. It's a great experience bonding with my boys 16 and 8. Love your chill style. New favorite pokemon youtuber💯🎉

Wow. Just hearing your stories took me back Lou! I can vividly remember begging my parents for cards and getting a singular pack.

Biggest thing for me was the gameboys and getting my own copy of Red. What a joy those days were! It’s fun reliving them a bit through my 30’s now too

I turned 25 in August and I’ve been collecting since I was 11-12, maybe younger but I don’t really remember lol. I still have a handful of my childhood cards but unfortunately most of them have been lost to time.
I adored the anime before I got into the cards or games. I didn’t get my first Pokemon game that wasn’t an emulator until I was 13, but I played Pokemon Emerald first on an emulator! I still love Hoenn very much and it’s still my favorite generation.
Pokemon has been a part of my life in one way or the other since I was really young, and it’s my most favorite thing in the world. It’s gotten me through so much and Mew, my favorite Pokemon, is permanently tattooed on my arm so I know it’s always with me.
Great video, I loved hearing how passionate you are about Pokemon!

Back when I was a kid, getting a pack of pokemon cards was such an exciting thing. I wasn't even hoping for a specific rarity. I remember I used to just love holding a deck of cards in my hand, looking through at the artwork, and showing friends at school the next morning. The 90s really were a different time.

Now THIS! THIS is exactly what pokemon should be! This video gives me some hopes for this hobby still being enjoyable <3

I wasnt allowed to play pokemon growing up, when i got to high school was when i was finally allowed to play thr games by my parents, but in middle school i borrowed a copy of pokemon ranger from my friend, i never got to finish it but i remember playing it in secret, hoping not to get in trouble with my parents. That friend moved away before i could give the game back to them but i still have it. I peeled the sticker off so my parents wouldnt know and every once in a while id play again.... so thats probably my favorite memory growing up

I was 10 when Pokemon was just becoming a thing in North America. I grew up close to NYC and Pokemon had a convention at a mall near me. My mom thought it would be a fun thing for the kids to do that weekend so she brought me and my brother. They handed out base set first edition packs of cards, along with the starter decks. If you brought your game (I did), they flashed the event Mew and gave you a physical  certificate of authenticity for the Mew. I was the coolest kid in school once Pokemon blew up and I had the only Mew.
