Kojima’s finest work (and mine too)—nobody explains the complete Big Boss story like I do: https://youtu.be/2A7dtitKHL8

I could tell Kojima began sticking it to Konami during my first playthrough of The Phantom Pain.  The beginning of every story mission had credits to remind me that this was a Hideo Kojima Game, Directed by Hideo Kojima, Written by Hideo Kojima, etc.  They removed his Kojima Productions logo from the game and in response, he plastered his name all over every mission.

All these years later, I still remember the "Fuck Konami" meme.
I still think of it every time I hear their name.

I think the funniest thing that happened for MGS Delta is the praise still goes to Kojima despite not being affiliated with the remake.

CDPR loves Hideo as well. In Cyberpunk 2077 if you look in the bar in Konpeki Plaza during the heist. They have Hideo in there talking about his vision of making games.

16:47 This is actually an unfortunately common practice in Japan's business sector in general. If you threaten to quit, you're threatened right back by being black listed by any other similar company which basically forces you to stay at your job. That's why Konami could do all these harsh restrictions because they knew they could just fuck over Kojima's crew into staying.

Losing Fox Engine was an absolute tragedy for game engines in general. It looked so good and performed so well. Optimization now is just lazy frame gen.

comic relief while showing berserk is wild 💀

"The greatest trick Kojima ever pulled was to convince the world he could write"     Verbal Kint probably...

0:16 Never thought I would hear kojima speaking english

The Fox Engine being stuck with a company that doesn't even see its potential has to be a crime against humanity.

I almost scrolled past, but that thumbnail... that thumbnail is excellent.

I've been in love with Kojima's games since before I knew who he was.
Back in the day, they put ads for the FIRST Metal Gear on the back of comics, with a list of gear you could get and I was absolutely entranced.
The guy knew what we as fans wanted in a video game and strove to include it.
He wasn't just checking the genre boxes and fulfilling tropes he didn't comprehend.
He was giving us the cool factor we had dreamed about and never received from the dad gang making games at the time.

Kojima is the only reason why I became an Indie dev. I wrote a school essay on him growing up.

To be fair, Delta is a 1:1 remake of the original with updated controls which is exactly what I wanted. I wouldn't want Konami to remake the game from the ground up without Kojima.

I kinda love and hate Kojima. Sure, he created the MGS franchise, but if you look deeper into his relationship with the MGS VAs and the English localization team of early Metal Gear—there are plenty of interviews and video essays on how poorly he treated them— thats why I'm not that mad when they fired him. He fired David Hayter because he wanted to play buddy-buddy with Hollywood actors (he’s famously a huge fan of 24, which is also massive in Japan), he also tried to replace David Hayter with Kurt Russell on MGS 4. This is also reflected in the Death Stranding cast; they are all his favorite actors. That is also a major reason why the MGSV budget soared to $120 million; he was dead set on casting his favorite actor from his favorite TV series (If only he stick with David Hayter, I believe he'll still in Konami and MGS series is continue on new title, he is to blame why the series dead now). For me, David Hayter IS Snake, and Snake IS David Hayter.

I still remember P.T. Having his biggest loophole around the NDA and hearing how he felt reminded me why I’ll remain loyal to the Artist and his team for their work and the original message throughout the series includes creating your own fate not being tied down by your peers or government who expect sacrifice from you while dismissing your work and merit, a lot has changed not just games but as we’ve stopped listening to radios, tv and even movies themselves aren’t what they used to be where you enjoyed in a theater after going out to dinner with friends or family- or just talking about it while listening to good radio….well time to just save money era 😅

Kojima snubbing David Hayter is where I draw the line.

At 12:39 for part four, small editing oversight.
Audio says Kojima's rebellion while the on screen text says Konami's rebellion

Otherwise, very well made, bravo!

Great points on Delta but I kinda have to defend it a bit, the thing with remaking Snake eater is its a double edged sword, the OG was pretty much a perfect game, adding crazy innovations to the game would still upset the fans cause they would whine 'why change it? it was better before!!' and if you don't innovate, people again whine 'where are the innovations???' so there's no winning for Konami either way. Sure, the price is a bit high for someone who already played the OG, but Delta's code was completly rebuilt and to a new player getting into the series, this was absolutely worth 70$.

Konami also asking fans what game they would like to be remade is them listening to fans, Capcom does these polls ALL the time. Konami is also capable of putting out AAA games, case in point: Silent Hill f. A completely new title in SH series along with upcoming Silent Hill Townfall. They're not just sticking to remaking older games and I think they will at some point make a new MGS game as well. Now if they can bring back Castlevania, that would be nice.
