I bought a brand new AGT YSRT14 mini skid steer at auction for just $2,750 — but once I got it back to the shop and started looking over the machine, I found a few things I definitely wasn't expecting.
In this video, I'm taking a close look at the AGT YSRT14 mini skid steer, going over what you actually get when buying one of these inexpensive Chinese mini skid steers from an equipment auction. We'll look at the build quality, hydraulic system, hydraulic oil cooler, hoses and fittings, engine compartment, controls, tracks, welds, serviceability and some of the questionable things I noticed during my first inspection.
These AGT / AGROTK mini skid steers have been showing up everywhere at equipment auctions, often selling for a fraction of the price of machines from Toro, Vermeer, Ditch Witch and other established manufacturers. At $2,750, I thought there wasn't much room to go wrong — but cheap equipment always raises the same question: what's the catch?
This isn't a full AGT YSRT14 review yet. I haven't put enough working hours on the machine to pretend I know how reliable it will be long-term. This is an honest first look at what actually showed up after buying a new AGT YSRT14 at auction, what I like, what concerns me, and whether it looks like $2,750 well spent.
I'll be documenting this machine as I service it, learn its quirks and eventually put it to work, including maintenance, hydraulic oil, engine oil, attachments, repairs, problems, modifications and long-term ownership.
If you're researching an AGT YSRT14, AGROTK YSRT14, Chinese mini skid steer, cheap mini skid steer, auction mini skid steer, or you're considering buying one of these machines yourself, hopefully this gives you a better idea of what you're actually getting.
