My father's been ill lately, and let his grass grow 3-4 feet high (yea, that bad). I bought one these suckers for him. It absolutely mulched the fricken heck out of thick South Carolina grass - on one charge with the exception of a tiny strip. For the price of what I paid on this sucker - I kind of want one for myself now... if I didn't own a competitor. The Ryobi is much quieter though...

Got an older one. 40v walk behind 20” single blade with 5ah battery. Bought it used a few days ago for $50, charger and battery included. Love it so far. I been mulching my mother’s grass. She got 1acre of grass full of branches and areas of dirt we did work on earlier. Lots of weeds too. I usually use my 50” toro but this thing is fun. Deck goes from 1.5”-4”. I wish it went lower. Only crappy thing is blade. No lift. Blade was beat up when I got it. I filed it as smooth as I could. Homedepot 1 hr away only has single blade sadly. I wanted to upgrade to the dual blades.

"I grew this grass out just to get these clips" ...no pun intended? :D

It’s got headlights if you have a garden apartment or house on a small lot in a subdivision you could cut grass at 3 am and not break the noise ordinance. But I have it on 1/2 acre and it replaced, outperforming my cub cadet push mower. Quiet like a fan.

I just bought a Ryobi lawn mower. I did not buy this model. I got the One + hp lawn mower. It’s self-propelled. It’s not the most high end but it looks good. I can’t wait to use mine. Thank you!

I have been using the Ryobi 40V 21” single blade mower for 4 years and have done a lot of mows. I was thinking about replacing it with the one you’re reviewing but received a recall notice for the one I had. They sent a replacement, which was great but I wanted all the new features this one has, so I splurged. The new one is really nice like 😌😌😌 Everything you said is true and I recommend this mower!!

Damn bro sweet grass

I have the crosscut AWD version ry40hplm03k2.  Solid mower.  Speed selection leaves something to be desired though.  Slowest speed faster than I'd like.  Self-propulsion lever either fully engaged or off, not variable speed as seems to be implied in this video.

I have an older version and it's a love/hate relationship. The stupid plastic (poly whatever) deck has so many damn nooks and crannies it takes me longer to clean it than mow my lawn. It also bogs down a lot and the 6ah batteries burn pretty fast. I have an older green works 12A(?) plug in that seemed to chew things up easier. And the solid metal deck was so much easier to clean but the cord sucked.

Because of this video review I bought one and getting rid of my Cub Cadet…Now let’s hope my lawn will become Real Nass Like… Like yours ! Thanks for the video !

recently bought the 20" mower love it. only thing hated was the plastic flap at the back would always get pulled underneath on the back stroke.. so pulled it off.. everything fine.. Then purchased the 15" weedeater.. love them both..

Man your RS3 is so tastefully adorned. The matte PPF really makes the lines of the vehicle come alive and with that 200 cell downpipe it sounds proper with refinement. Nice job on bringing this vision to life.

Thanks for this - just unboxed my crosscut, was going blind trying to read the manual and I thought, "someone's got to have a video" on how to adjust it, operate it, etc., and here you are!  I don't think I would have ever figured out how to adjust the speed paddle lever height without your video!
Haven't cut with it yet, batteries still charging but I think a weak point is the battery cover - seems  pretty flimsy.
Thanks again for your help!

Clint, I love your stuff. I'm basically picking up what you're putting down so that's fun. But I took a chance and went with you on this little adventure. I was in the camp of dino fuel machines, and my 8 or 9 year old Toro machine was the subject of my consternation.

Hey, I want to have breathable air and no issues related to any emissions from my machines, but I also didn't want to sideline a key player on my grass brigade. This video made me change my mind and I'm honestly glad that I did. I'm already Team RYobi / REEobi depending on where you're from, so it wasn't a huge leap because I like their stuff and this mower in particular really did punch well above it's weight class.

I appreciate the recommendation and thorough review. Me and my lawn thank you for it. Keep being awesome!

That's real nass like! Yes, the kicking shoes as well. 😂
What REALLY caught my attention is the chute option. Early generations didn't come with that option but could buy the attachment separately and it shoots the clippings to the LEFT instead of the right. Finally Ryobi got it right. Literally. Lastly, I have a question: Does the mowing height have the measurements in between the 1 and 4" label? Frustrating not knowing the in between heights. I hand wrote them on mine. 😎🎸👍

I got this one also from the recall! I ended up being able to pick it up from the Home Depot, and got the kit- with the 2 batteries and charger!
That's real nice like 😁

Agree on the feeling flimsy of the bar that gets the mower going! But still good!

I had the single blade one, not brushless or self propelled and it was also good.  Really the only time I ever had a problem with it lacking power was once when someone had it down too low.  It amazes me they didn't destroy the grass that way.  I guess they only didn't because they couldn't keep it running.  I raised it back to the height that I usually mow at and you wouldn't guess anything was wrong then.

I got that as a replacement for my recalled mower. I like the speed adjustment is up and out of way and now you use left or right buttons to speed up or slow down. Old one had stupid slider switch that was easy to knock out of place. I really like the knob for mulching or bagging/side chute. I hated that plug. Thanks for video Clint! add on I love turning headlights off. I always felt dorky when traffic came by and light being on in bright sunshine.

My Ryobi crosscut (1st gen “brick”) does a fantastic job cutting my half acre lawn, however I do need to use my Honda Gas mower to do the spring scalp on my Bermuda grass due to height restriction, but this new Ryobi actually looks like it might get low enough to get that done. How is the self propelled engagement? Mine takes about 2 seconds to fully engage.

The 'Whisper Series' counterpart to this mower is $100 more, and aside from a couple small differences (like no light on/off button, and a lever instead of a knob for mulch/bagging) they are the same specs. Can you offer an opinion in the Whisper Series is worth the extra hunnit bones? I'm leaning toward no, conceivably.
