I was supposed to be finishing the kitchen extension… but instead, I decided to start building the master bedroom and bathroom extension from scratch. Because apparently rebuilding one part of an abandoned house at a time wasn't complicated enough.
300 POUNDS OF CONCRETE. MIXED BY HAND. ALONE. And then it started raining. 🤦♂️
The next extension on this abandoned house is officially underway, which means it's time to build the new foundation. For this episode of Between The Sharks, I needed to pour the new footers—and instead of ordering a truckload of concrete, I decided to mix roughly 300 pounds of concrete from bags, by hand, using a portable concrete mixer… BY MYSELF.
Because apparently making things harder than they need to be is part of the plan.
I mix, haul, pour, level, and finish the new concrete footers one batch at a time while trying to keep everything in the right place and get it done before the weather turns against me.
And of course… it rains.
This is another step in the ongoing DIY rebuild of this abandoned house as I work toward building the new master bedroom and bathroom extension from the ground up. No crew, no concrete truck, and definitely no idea what I'm doing half the time—just a lot of hard work, heavy bags, and trying to make this old house better one project at a time.
If you've been following the rebuild, this is where the new extension really starts taking shape.
300 pounds of concrete. One guy. One mixer. One very questionable decision.
Welcome to Between The Sharks.
