According to legend, Khelaram Datar was a famous robber chief of the region at that time. He used to conduct robberies on the Ichamati River. According to legend, he used to take the loot from the Ichamati River to his house through a tunnel and later donate it to the poor. He also built a temple for worship. Since then, the temple has been known as Khelaram Datar Vigraha Mandir.

Architectural features:

This is a two-story ancient building or Vigraha Mandir. In the middle of the second floor of the building, there is a large octagonal room and eight small rooms surround it. There are several medium and high Mathas on the roof, which are beautifully carved.

Secret Tunnel: Legend has it that a secret tunnel from the Ichamati River was directly connected to this dark dungeon, through which looted goods were brought. The tunnel is currently closed.
