Wow thank you for sharing the information about how Tucson started

No comments?? Why? This video is over 10 years old

Is it true Az. had 4 different capitals what is called moving capitals before Phoenix became the true capital. I would like this researched further.

Apache would visit and borrow.  Nice history

Tucson is the English corruption of the Spanish corruption of the Oodam place name.   The original name is something like Shushun village at the base of the black rocks.   The black rocks being A mountain (Sentinel Peak).   The European beginning of Tucson is in 1776.   The actual beginning of Tucson is with that Oodam village which goes back to at least 600 BC.

So according to this video, Tucson's story only begins with the arrival of the Spanish?  Was there nothing important going on in the region before their arrival?  Ancient cultures lived in the region centuries before the Conquest.

As brutal as being forced to man the presidio at Tucson was, it was a picnic compared to Terrahaunte (sp). A presidio too far.

🤔 interesting!😊

I thought Tubac had a bigger presence than explained here.  Native Tucsonan

Looking for a list of names of these soldiers in their families

They would have sent hunting parties in to the Santa Catalina mtns deer , turkey and javalina in abundance 😇

In the 1960s, outside Cortaro, as a child, you could find adobe ruins,  remnants of terrace farming, and ditching. Further from the Santa Cruz, were pot shards, fire pits, and shelters. Thousands of years of history. But that was not not the story of Tucson’s history taught in 1960s Arizona schools. Prescott, where I went to High School, Arizona history didn’t start until the first Anglo trappers arrived.

I wonder if anyone has ever told Shaw Kinsley he looks like Leonard Maltin

“Native Americans “ ALL have Asian DNA. They migrated across the Bering Straight.

Tucson was a Native American village populated by the pima papago people of the Sonora desert. It was founded by THE FIRST NATIONS PEOPLE.

The Native Americans probably saved them with food and knowledge about building structures to protect them!

For all you "America First" Trumpers, ignorant of this country's history. Spain did the second most to secure American independence after the French, the Gulf of Mexico campaigns by Galvez drew off British troops to Florida that could have made the difference for British efforts in the South, 1780-81.

Make Tucson Great Again vote the Dems  out.

You mean Apacheria. lmao
