When I learned sentence patterns at school, I had no idea what use they were. When I relearned them as an adult, I was surprised at how powerful they were. There are pros and cons to learning sentence patterns, but I'd like to share my thoughts on the significance and benefits of learning them.
*Some verbs can be used to form several sentence forms (the word find in the video is an example of this), and for example, a verb that can form sentence pattern 5 will not always appear in a sentence of sentence pattern 5. However, by knowing and anticipating this possibility in advance, you will be able to respond when a sentence of sentence pattern 5 actually appears. Even if this is not the case (for example, if the sentence becomes sentence pattern 3), it is already an understandable sentence, so you will be able to respond either way. I think that sentence patterns 4 and 5 are the most difficult to understand, so being able to anticipate the possibility (this is just a possibility) of these two appearing is extremely important.
