Welcome to Beijing, China 🇨🇳 This will be our first time exploring China's capital and political hub known for its cultural heritage and traditional lifestyle through its society and environment.
We begin by taking the Beijing Metro for the first time and heading over to the centre as we have tickets booked to visit Tiananmen Square, the heart of Beijing. Visiting here during Golden week means two things: ITS EXTREMELY BUSY......BUT, possibly the most unique and enthralling way to experience as a tourist if you can endure the crowds.
The next day, we headed into Old Beijing to explore the Hutong streets and everything it had to offer in between. These are tight, low lying streets that if you are paying attention can easily get lost. We headed to the drum and bell tower and ended up eating some delicious Peking Duck for the first time, this is China's national dish.
We headed back on the metro as we wanted to end our short trip in Beijing by exploring the modern side to Beijing as don't forget, just because this is a cultural city doesn't mean its not heavily invested in its modern side, this place was huge and full of glass skyscrapers!

Enter Tiananmen Square with a reservation, cross Tiananmen Street through the underground tunnel, and then go directly to the ticket office.
You can find the other entrances and try that. Good luck!
