God has raised up this fine, respected Professor to announce the wonderful presence of a human being who is God Himself who went to a Cross, death and resurrection for the fact of our sinful nature and provide the entrance to a world of Hope beyond this sad and cruel world of sin. Thank you Professor John Lennox! Thank you, Lord Jeus!
I thank God that He designed built-in consequences for my many sins (for which I am now greatly suffering in my human body) and I thank Him for aging and death. Without these two things, I would not have repented.
At least in Britain we have beautiful old churches where the sense of wonder and deep history can elevate the proceedings, those responsible for music are genuinely gifted and the priest has the good taste and decency to talk for no longer that 10 minutes. People go because they genuinely find pleasure and derive meaning from their worship and the theological indoctrination takes back seat to the mystical experience. It’s thoroughly civilised and humane. No one is actually simplistic enough to believe in it literally. They have the subtlety to recognise what it is, a cultural phenomenon that has shaped our societies for two millennia.
