I feel like I've been more hyped for these Rakim drops than anything else on youtube lately

I told you bro, that 18th Letter album is ALL TIME underrated

If you took all the greatest living rappers and put them in the same room, no one would be looked at with more reverence from their peers than Rakim

You are spoiling us with your reactions my young brother ❤

In 1997 HE  said I’m Gonna Move Crowds till 2000 & Something!!!! PROPHETIC !! ❤

best MC to ever bless our ears bruh!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been patiently waiting for this. I remember when this first dropped. He hadn't had a song out in years and this showed he still had it.

For context,  after 1992's Don't Sweat the Technique,  Eric B and Rakim broke up . Rakim went radio silent . They were no features , no magazine breakdowns of what actually happened  ( we didn't have podcasts lol ) all we had was industry rumors and speculation about them having a money dispute  .
Anyway, in the 5 long years of  not hearing from Rakim, a rise of Rakim inspired prized  pupils emerged to begin carving their  names and pushing the craft .
In '93  the Wutang takeover begins.  In '94 Nas drops and becomes the most heralded MC to debut since '86 Rakim himself  . Then came Biggie,  then came a stylistically remastered Jayz .

By the time Rakim returns with Guess Who's Back , a next generation of MCs have gotten well fed off the lyrical recipes he left .
