The Fail Mary is brutal, but the no call interference at #1 is just funny to me. The guy got absolutely clobbered, and the call should've been so obvious even Madden would've called it 🙄
The worst part about #1 is the entire country had to then sit through the most boring SB of all time between the Pats and the Rams who didn't even deserve to be there.
The #1 play was absolutely inexcusable. I remember seeing that as it happened and wondered who paid the refs off, because Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder saw the interference on that play.
Prior to the 2018 Saints/Rams game, the Saints asked for a different ref team. The Saints had lost 8 games previously because of that ref team and bad calls.
A few things worth mentioning about the lions cowboys game. The illegal touching penalty came much later after a discussion on the field which felt a bit odd. The next day, that referee team was not allowed to officiate the playoffs.
There's a lot of recency bias here. Rob Lytle's fumble in the 1977 AFC Championship Game, Mike Renfro's catch which was ruled no catch in the 1979 AFC Championship Game, and Don Chandler's missed field goal that was ruled good in the 1965 NFL Championship Game definitely need to be on this list!
The picked up flag during the Lions/Cowboys playoff game should have made the cut. If THAT play had been called right, the Dez Bryant "no catch" wouldn't have even happened.
Bengals PI in the Super Bowl against the Rams should be in here. The guy flagged didn’t get within 3 yards of a Ram the whole play and it gifted the Rams the win.
Should note that in 1976 the Patriots lost a playoff game to the Raiders because of a phantom roughing the passer call on a clean sack. Still remembered in New England.
