Some sitcoms made us laugh for years. Then they ripped the rug out and showed us we'd been watching a tragedy the whole time.

10 sitcom plot twists that hit fans like a truck. A mother dead before the story started. A character buried in a basement for four years. A heaven that was actually hell. Some you probably caught. Others, the writers hid in plain sight for years.

The saddest final episode ever was for “Dinosaurs.”

The entire run time for HIMYM is 76h 16m
Ted took a little over 3 days to tell his kids the whole story.

I like the fan theory for Seinfeld series finale that they died in a plane crash at the beginning of the ep. and that the court case was purgatory

Ben isn't a ghost. He's Dr Cox's hallucination. He's the guys best friend the closest thing he has to a brother and he can't accept that he's gone.

How I met your mother's "twist" wasn't really a twist. People saw it coming a mile away. He literally says "I finally decided to tell my kids the story of how I met their mother". Meaning that the mother more than likely passed away at some point before the telling of the story when the children were young. And now that the children are older, they would be able to understand the more complex themes and things Ted would eventually get into during the telling of the story.

Jurassic Bark from Futurama is still the most depressing twist in anything ever

So that Simpson episode was a parody of a show called Dallas, from the 70’s. Where an episode of one of the characters got shot, it took 8 months to figure out who shot him. Ever hear of who shot J.R?

Who thought the kids sitting on the couch was a budget thing? It clearly was because they were being told a story in a single sitting…

"Who shot Mr. Burns" was a parody of "who shot J. R." from the show Dallas.

The kids actually do change clothes, but only once or twice. They were prepared to make cake girl be the mom of the show got canceled early.

The final MASH episode with Henry Blake is #1 on any list such as this.

i think if Sheldon kept saying his dad wasnt around when he was younger and then finding out it was because of a heart attack in "Young Sheldon" would've made for the saddest twist in everything history

Newhart ending one show as a dream of his first show. Brilliant.

I always thought it was hilarious that the Senfield cast was lastly put behind bars.

In Seal Team, they killed off their rookie Clay Spencer after he got married, wife got pregnant, he survived and ambush that blew off his leg, survived almost dying in the hospital, went through rehab, and began helping other wounded vets only to be killed by a cop walking by after he saw him with a gun that he had taken off a soldier who was going to do something horrible. The guy survives hell and finally gets his life on track only to have it taken away while trying to save someone else. He was a primary character the entire series and we watched him go from a rookie barely accepted by the team into a full fledged member of the team

Scrubs' "My Screw Up" still gets to me this day! The devastation that the bulletproof, strong-willed, Dr. Cox, experiences over the loss of his best friend shows that no one is invincible ... Best episode ever of Scrubs!
