"May not be suitable for viewers under 16." - Surely this should be viewed by those under the age of 16, so they do not fall prey to the same sextortion that this 16 year-old did?

This needs to be shown in schools. For some kids, it might be the most important video they'll ever watch.

My son went through this at age 14 he panicked, but very fortunately he came to me and his dad very tearful and ashamed as the guy was blackmailing him. We assured him and said we thanked him for his bravery of coming to us. He has nothing to fear or feel ashamed of and that we support him even if any images were shared. (They were not).
We told him to warn others in his friendship circle and that he was the victim not the criminal.
We involved the police, they spoke to him kindly but obviously as the criminal was overseas there was nothing that the police could do.

Have open discussions with your teenager and say there is nothing to be embarrassed or ashamed of…….

If this happened to a 16-year-old, then young people of around that age NEED to see it!

How sad. This should be mandatory viewing in all secondary schools.

I got sextorted 2 years ago as well when I was 17. The same thing you see in the video happened to me they tried calling me threatening to leak it to all my instagram followers. I remember desperately watching YouTube videos and reading comments to see what I should do - luckily I did because all you have to do is BLOCK THEM. 99% chance nothing will happen to you if you block them (Nothing happened to me) but if they do end up leaking ur parts. It’s not the end of the world. It’s a body part. People are too busy with their own lives and IT WILL BE FORGOTTEN IN A WEEK!

I’m a 59 year old woman and a few months back I had an email saying they were going to sell pictures of me if I didn’t pay up, thing is, there are none and I don’t have social media haha.

What you said at the end is so important,, DON'T GET SMOTHERED BY THE SHAME " Shame is the worst feeling we can have but parents and friends will never shame you, they love you and nothing you can do will ever make them ashamed of you,, tell someone please even a male friend tell tell tell,, it's nothing to be ashamed of to be a sexual young person we have all been there,, to any young person who decides to send nudes keep your face out of it ALWAYS,, if that's not enough then you need to block the " girl/boy you're talking to straight away,, great video Jordan keep up the good work, the internet is a dark predatory place, we must get ahead of it like that fake voucher app amazing stuff, for every scammer there's someone figuring out new ways to stop them 💚🇮🇪

The best advice I can give anyone: NEVER share or send inappropriate photos to anyone under any circumstances. If you are talking to someone online, no matter how nice or friendly they may seem, if they ask for inappropriate photos or videos. Log off and block the person immediately.

For people who are going through what Murray is going through, please please please remember:
Everything in life is temporary. Yes, maybe it is bad, but life goes on, and in no time this would be nothing. Please, think twice if its worth it, because i'm telling you its really really not. Whatever your going through is temporary.

It’s absolutely heart-breaking to see young people being blackmailed like this. Many have taken or shared intimate photos at some point—it might not be the wisest choice, but it’s a common experience. That should never make anyone a target for blackmail. The fact that young people are dying because of shame, regret, fear, anxiety, etc. is so tragic and unnecessary.

This needs to be shown in schools, youth clubs, sports clubs etc. The word has to get out there to educate and protect our young. My heart broken when Murray's younger brother broke down. These scammers down realise or care how many lives are being affected by their callous actions. May he RIP

I'm so sorry for your family's loss of Murray 💔

@Rebecca_Bailey 7 months ago (edited)

The fact that they don’t even feel bad for scaring children makes me feel sick, I’m so sorry to the family that lost their son and brother to suicide because of this, this is why I will teach my daughter to be open and honest with me about what’s going on, we need to be communicating with our children about the dangers of the Internet
