In this episode of Fight Scene Autopsy - the most pedantic overly detailed analysis of movie fight scenes on YouTube where I review them for how realistic they are in respect to historical combat - I analyze the fights from Netflix The Witcher TV series of Geralt Vs Renfri and his fight with her henchmen in Blaviken.

"There is no way I'm going to watch a 72 minute frame-by-frame teardown of a 2 minute fight scene"
72 minutes later: "hmm."

The truth behind Renfri's mutation: she was fused with a Beyblade

I find it unreasonably funny how the auto-generated subtitles keep mishearing "Geralt" as "the girl". Like yeah, the girl. The six foot built-like-a-brick-shithouse girl. That one. Gotcha.

“You can clearly see Geralt doesn’t want to fight her”

2 seconds later

“WHY ISNT HE KILLING HER???”

Henchmen: has telegraphed moves and useless armour

Shad: So, you have chosen death.

"Her back is facing Geralt more often than her front." Just like the night before...

About Geralt's spins... All his spins perfectly makes sense. He dazes the opponents by the sight of his dashing ass.

I feel like there's a difference between "not trying to kill someone" and "trying not to kill someone" lol

that "ting" sound when geralt is "not hitting anything" in 14:40 is actually when parrying another crossbow bolt

The only "unrealistic" thing about the fight was that they all didn't run away after he opened the first guy's head up like a tuna can

14:07 That swipe parried an arrow. You can see the arrow.

To be fair, her fighting style ends with her dying to someone that didn't wanna kill her. So in that regard it's realistic. :D

Interestingly enough, the "henchmen" in this fight, in the books, are a famous and well trained bandit company.
They should know better than to telegraph their blows 😂

The real reason Geralt used reverse grip:
He was flexing on the henchmen

Me watching Geralt using Aard in this fight scene: Hmm... must not have any points into it.

@zacgallup7232 6 years ago

In a nutshell: Renfri is wide open and Geralt is hesitant to kill her.

"I used to be a powerful henchman, but a Witcher stabbed me in the knee."

I feel like she gets away with all the spins because she expects him to not cut her down. And she’s right, because most of the fight, he’s trying to get her to stop fighting, not to stop living.
