Turn 3 Etali while everyone's chilling
The problem with Etali Decks built like this is that removing the threat doesnt balance the game out, it actually helps the Etali player.

The deck balance in this game was off, and that's on me! Before we film, we do look at decklists and try to make sure games are balanced and a fun to watch experience, but we just missed the mark this time around. Notably, this was the literal first time I have ever played this deck ever outside of goldfishing it online, and I simply did not know how the deck would play. My original intent was to accrue max value by playing everyone else's group hug cards, but it turns out that Etali is simply too busted, unless you whiff on all the hits. I did not know at the time there are cEDH decks built around this Commander (keep in mind this episode was filmed months ago). Turns out that even with lots of removal and players teaming up against it, Etali simply is too powerful for a pod like this. I will say that there were several instances where the hits from Etali were simply outrageously good, notably casting a massive one sided boardwipe late in the game, but there were other things that led this to be more one sided - I had an amazing opening hand and my opponents did not remove my powerful mana dork to delay me several turns. There are also many instances where players were very close to turning the entire thing around - had one opponent hit an untapped land to recast that one sided boardwipe, or if I didn't draw into a counter against another board clear. I think the reaction to this episode is drastically different if I end up ultimately getting taken down, but regardless of outcome, the Etali is just too imbalanced and creates archenemy situations that tend to tilt the game experience. Apologies all - we'll do our best to balance better in the future. - Jimmy
