It'll never stop surprising me how chimp owners will constantly say that no one can take better care of their chimps than them, then proceed to feed them cake.

He ditched his fiancée at the altar for a car, and she took him back

The bar doesn’t exist anymore

It's for real scary how entitled chimp owners are bro like i know it's because they're usually independently wealthy and that's where the root of their behavior comes from but I for real cannot imagine. Even aside from the innocent people who get attacked (the workers in this vid as well as Charla Nash come to mind) so many chimps suffer and die because of this. I also can't imagine thinking it's gucci to spoil one animal all day long in front of a bunch of other animals let alone animals as intelligent as chimps but whatever.

I always find chimp stories extremely fascinating because I will never be able to comprehend why someone would want one in their homes.

They are loud, strong, quick to anger, potentially violent, need around the clock care, take human sized dumps, get bored easily, and I’m sorry they’re not even cute in my opinion. I mean yeah, they’re smart and feel some degree of human emotions, but they’re not going to feel positively toward you if you’re the one restraining them.

We need to protect chimps and their environments so they can live their lives. Zoos need to be careful in how they deal with them. A zoo is a better environment than someone’s house.

That rescue story he told about how he got Mo is absolutely false there's no way a poacher just "happened~" to kill a mother chimp and not take the baby which was/is the whole point of poachers killing the mothers(and he just "happened~" to witness it all) He Bought That Chimp and then Lied to make himself look better

My uncle used to know the Davis's in the 70s and actually met Moe once. He used to tell me stories about Moe when I was a kid. From what I heard they were just kinda irresponsible boomers, in general. When this happened, all my uncle said was "yeah, I think it was just a matter of time."

It's so ridiculous.

Firstly, the story sounds false. He is trying to frame it as a rescue, but poachers usually kill the moms specifically for their babies. This wasn't a rescue. It was a transaction supporting poaching.

Secondly, yikes! Everyone should have seen this coming. Delusional and dangerous.

Thirdly, why would you allow the couple to get in the cage? If they really though it was helping Moe (which it probably wasn't. It made the other chimps jealous, which would make integration much harder), at least keep a fence between them.

These selfish, stupid people treating these wild animals like children do so much harm. If they used the money they spent on cages, cake and candy to support agencies that help preserve wild habitats for these beautiful chimpanzees, tigers, etc. they would actually be doing something good.

Honestly the lady that got bit kind of asked for it... "Dont go near the cage" does not mean stick your fingers inside and try to pet him. I swear thats the same type of person who walking their  dog sees yours and says "Oh can they meet?" and you say no mine doesn't like dogs, but lets her dog approach anyway. Then when a fight breaks out she sues you for a vicious dog attack.

The saddest part of this story, Mo was the least problematic "pet" chimp we have had so far, but being so used to human lifestyle, he would never really be happy.

Very sad especially as Moe never actually hurt anybody himself (apart from when strangers put their fingers in his cage) and after being treated like a child for 40 years his life more than likely ended alone in the woods. Better than being shot or rotting in a cage I suppose. It's a shame his story has no definitive end. And it baffles me to know a an adult male chimp escaped into the wilderness and the authorities didn't search for him as a matter of public safety like they were glad he disappeared. He was failwe by humans over and over.

So he “witnessed” poachers kill the chimpanzee’s mother… but he came the next day to find the baby next to the mother? What were the poachers supposedly going for if they left the body?

LaDonna saying she tried to reason with Buddy, 'sit down, you can also have some cake' like??? You cannot reason with wild animals??

WTF California, they gave him a freaking driver's license?

I once read a memoir of a veterinarian who occasionally treated exotic animals. He said the most terrifying experience he ever had was treating an adult male chimpanzee.

Poor Moe. It's really sad that he just wandered off and was never seen again.
I would like to imagine he at least died happy that he was free and not in a cage.

It agrivates me that when Moe was taken away and got stressed out, they had the audacity to say that they wanted him back. The couple broke him. Whether or not he was a rescue doesn't matter. They took him and locked him up in their house to play family. They manipulated him, isolated him, so that he only saw them and only them as family. Depriving him of his species killed him. They hallowed him out and had the gawls to say he loved them. He does, but it's because they made themselves his whole world.

all of these videos make me sad but the chimp ones really get to me because of how smart they are.

Another reminder : the  chimps are not a pet
