STAR WARS (1977 Version) to be RE-RELEASED in 2027!

Yes Star Wars fans! It's finally happening. The original un-modified version of Star Wars is coming back to Cinemas in 2027. Way before George Lucas got fidgety with wanting to correct his vision for the original movie and made changes for the 'Special Edition' back in 1997, we had the original movie WITHOUT it's Chapter IV baggage and subsequent embellishments.

I for one, can't wait!

All three original versions are the best.

I saw Star Wars in 77 and it will always be called just Star Wars! I truly hope the original version comes to physical media so we don’t have to be stuck with all that added/ changed crap Lucas has made over the years!

Been waiting a long time for a remastered version of the original 1977 theatrical release. Rumours have been flying around for awhile now. Great to hear it is confirmed. Can't wait.

Honestly I'll believe it when I see it. Been a LOT of "confirmations" for all things Star Wars over the decades so a bait and switch wouldn't surprise me at all.

I was there in 77 as a young kid! Changed our lives forever!

Star Wars was the first movie I saw in the movie theater as a 5 year old!

Saw it in '82 for the first time, very young, sitting in my grandfather's shop while he smoked a pipe. He had the VHS and wanted to keep me busy while he fiddled with his ham radio. Like you, without that moment, I wouldn't be the movie collector and sci-fi/fantasy nerd I am today. Looking forward to the physical media of this one!

Watching the original Star Wars at the age of 7 was an extraordinary experience - like witnessing true magic...

"HAN SHOT" end of story! Always loved the cold blooded killer.

Thanks to 4k77-83 I already own those, along with the despecialized editions.

I was 5 when it came out and my love for movies started in that theater in 1977.

Ever since I got the originals the way they were in theaters (4K77) they are my go to.

Definitely prefer the 1977 version. STAR WARS. Just STAR WARS.

It’s all I ever call the movie to this day.

I hope the re release is literally that ‘77 version, warts and all.

I’m so hoping for a physical release of it. I have my nagging doubts though. We’ll see.

Have a great holiday 👍

I will be watching this in cinemas and hopefully buy the original 1977 in 4K blu ray I’m praying it happens.

I have 4K77 and I treasure it :)

I’m willing to bet that when Star Wars is re-released in 2027, it will be massive.
Then we will get a bunch more classic films coming back to theatres.

The change to Star Wars Episode IV : A New Hope happened with rerelease of the film in 1981 all in one go so it would match The Empire Strikes Back there were many sound variants too. The mono mix the 70mm mix .
