Auburn's Loss Last Night Was Brutal

Locked On Auburn

20,160 views

Auburn Tigers’ late-game woes continue as they fall to Tennessee Volunteers 24-14, raising tough questions about culture, discipline, and talent evaluation. Can Alex Golesh steer Auburn out of its losing habits before the schedule intensifies? Key mistakes—like 11 penalties for 98 yards, failed fourth-down attempts, and dropped passes—haunt the Tigers, despite standout efforts from Omar Mabson and moments of strong defensive play.

Zac Blackerby and Darrell Dapprich break down Auburn’s recurring issues with execution, costly pre-snap infractions, and questionable play-calling in pivotal situations. The conversation spotlights Byrum's inconsistent play at quarterback, ongoing challenges on both lines, and the underwhelming impact of transfer portal additions. As Auburn faces a brutal stretch with matchups against Georgia Bulldogs, LSU Tigers, and Ole Miss Rebels, fans wonder: Is there a path to bowl eligibility, or will the Tigers’ struggles persist?

Man we really SUCK! There is no nicer way to say it!

Same Auburn team as the last several teams. Some things never change and never will

@ThomasKirby-i8f4z 10 hours ago

You gotta 6’5 230 lb QB and you need a half a yard and you run outside 😡😡

@kevinogborne516 9 hours ago

Brown is not an Sec QB, his decision making is slow and not risk adverse. Mabson should be the guy going forward

@redman443 10 hours ago

It’s one thing to have a bad season or two but we’ve been dealing with non competitive mediocre football for 6 years.

@BobbyBarber-o5u 11 hours ago

Auburn needs an offense line. Until then, it will be hard to win in the SEC.

Explain to us how Kentucky team with a new coach looks ten times better than us.

The right tackle was moving pre snap every play.

Please interview a past Auburn center and Rimington Award winner whose name is Reese Dismukes. If hired he would solve most if not all of the offensive line problems. Thanks!!

The frustrating thing is we got in a little rhythm with Mabson running the ball and he kept going away from it! Like you have said many times Darrell, run it until they stop it!

Aren’t these the two guys who kept disagreeing with BB’s SEC rating by other Nat’l football commentators. Turns out those commentators were right rating him so bad.

@Willy_247 10 hours ago

I just can’t believe they put in an injured Cobb on the biggest play of the game. Love Cobb, but if you are not going to do a QB sneak, give it to Mabson or Washington to get one yard.

The sad thing is, we know that Freeze was kinda phoning it in as a coach, but I don’t think that is the case with Golesh, I think he is actually working hard and so far isn’t getting it done!

@Scottdivorced62 11 hours ago

We will be lucky to win 5 games this year

@FreddyDillard-yn7yt 9 hours ago

Man, nothing changed. Im still feeling the Freeze 😂

After watching this staff’s play calling, I don’t know if they have the competence to evaluate talent at the jr high level.

@jonlubin3229 10 hours ago

At what point do we see Kail Ellis at center? It's time to understand the USF guys are outmatched.

@alanwalliser3334 9 hours ago

Auburn is not ready to play and compete in the SEC. They haven't been in awhile. I'm not ready to give up on AG, it's too early, and he needs time to put it all together and make it his team...

But it's getting really exhausting seeing the same thing year after year.

Zac is spot on about the talent evals. Really concerning! development on the defensive side of the ball is also something I’m worried about. Kaleb Harris has gotten progressively worse. As dynamic as our backers are at times, they have been consistently late filling their gaps in the run game. I don’t think eric winters is playing particularly well either. We clearly downgraded at corner and O-Line. The only group that has been so solid is the receiver group. The talent evals is my biggest concern along with the lack of development on the defensive side of the ball from some of the younger guys especially
