This video guts me every time. I grew up on Johnny Cash & knowing his history you can tell he resonated deeply with these lyrics. You can feel his regret over hurting the people he loved due to his personal struggles. He also knew he was nearing the end, so this video kind of points out that despite his immense wealth & fame, it all means nothing in the end. What a great performance & beautiful, haunting video. Together they are an unparalleled emotional gut punch. The closing of the piano at the end is heartbreaking.

Thanks Ash

Theres all sorts of things with this video his wife, who is in the video, died 4 months before he did, about 3 months after this was filmed. When he closes the piano, his daughter said " aww Daddy, it's like you've played it for the last time, and in was it never been opened since, spilling the wine, a toast to those who died before you. And several other things, a very emotional video to us fans of the Man In Black

Back in 1985 he came to a memorial for soldiers who died in a plane crash in Newfoundland with members of 101st airborne onboard. My little brother among them. Johnny Cash and June Carter spoke and hugged everyone there. A true class act and legend.

Johnny Cash is the only country musician I listen to.  He was a master of lyrics.

Now this is how to do a cover. So much feeling in every part of it. Amazing

Johnny Cash was a great performer to the end.

Another of my all time favorites!

This music video gets me everytime.... 😭

I'm sure Mr. Cash had his share of regrets in his life but, he also gave his fans many years of great music. R.I.P. big John. Rest in power.

I bought the cd when it came out. And I cried .  Jack white actually wrote a song for Jonny Cash. Lv jonny.r.i.p sir💜💜💜😎. Thnx ashlena ☮️⚡😎

I feel this is definitely in the top 5 best covers ever. Everyone needs to see and hear it at least once.

This will play at my funeral.

This is absolutely one of those vids that adds so much to the song.

Nice change of direction always liked this song. Trent has said when he heard this it was Johnny's song now.

2nd best cover of any song ever.
Just behind 'Lose Yourself' covered by Kasey Chambers.

A fitting song for the one year anniversary of my dad's death, he loved Johnny Cash 😢 as sad as it is, I love it, thank you for playing this song 👍❤

This is a reaction video by Ashlena where she watches the official music video for Johnny Cash's "Hurt". Since she has seen the video before, she knows the song well and finds it beautiful. (0:30-0:41).

Here are some key points from her reaction:
Johnny Cash's age and health problems are evident in the video. He was 71 when it was filmed in February 2003 and was dealing with serious health issues. His frailty is visible. (5:15-5:33).
The video is like a diary of Johnny Cash's life, as it includes old clips from his career. (6:46-6:54).
Ashlena finds Johnny Cash's voice to be "adorable" and contrasts this with the common perception of him as a great singer. (5:00-5:13).
She finds the cover of "Hurt" by Disturbia to be the second-best cover ever, only behind the original. (5:36-5:59).
The video makes her sad, knowing that Cash passed away shortly after filming. (6:10-6:38).
At the end of the video, Ashlena opens a new vinyl record that she purchased at Record Store Day. It's "Dead Sarah's - Ain't It Tragic" pressed on lemonade vinyl. (7:00-7:39).

That simple lyric change - one word - really highlights the differences between perspectives between young Trent Reznor & old Johnny Cash.

Perfect lyrics from Reznor and perfect singing from Cash…..love your reactions🤘🏼

Johnny Cash died seven months after the filming of the "Hurt" music video. The video was shot in February 2003, and Cash passed away on September 12, 2003. His wife, June Carter Cash, died three months prior, on May 15, 2003.
