If the variable resistor package burns out (actually a ceramic fuse that protects that package burns out) the problem is in 90% of cases the blower is worn out and draws too much current. If you only change the variable resistors you have a good chance that they will burn out again in a few months-a year. You fool yourself that you have solved the problem, but in fact you have only eliminated the effect, not the cause. And be careful that in cars with Climatronic there is no longer a resistor pack, but a real electronic module that probably controls the speed via PWM. The cheap ones wear out quickly, if you still change it, buy either an original one from scrapyards or a new one from established manufacturers like Mahle, possibly a Metzger.

My blower motor doesn't work when it's hot at 95°F and higher. If it's int he upper 80's, it works fine. I've also tried giving it a tap when it doesn't work, and it doesn't cause it to kick back on.
