Geoff: "10 years is a long time to be doing anything."
Frieren: "It's a mere 10 years."
Geoff: "Shut up, Frieren, you're not even on this list!"

Having mob psycho 100 as your number 1 anime healed me, thank you kind sir

We've gotten three of the greatest Mother's Basement videos in 3 weeks. What a beautiful time to be alive. You're on fire

Started crying listening to the Eva and Gurren chapters. Such beautiful shows masterfully reviewed. If Eva is “You mustn’t run away” then Gurren is “We must always move forward”

It's crazy that in 2025, there are anime on someone's "best ever" list that have no legal way to watch on streaming services.

Congrats on 10 years, bro.  You're one of the few people still doing this kind of deeply analytical anime content, I miss that era of anitube.

I can’t believe that he made an entire podcast show to defend why Frieren didn’t make the list.

One of the things I have started to really love about you over the past few years is that you just love art, especially this art form, but all art in general.  You don't just want cool stories, or pretty drawings, or big moments.  You want those things, we all do, but you want to feel something.  You want to experience something.  You want to feel a creator's heart and soul.  And it really shines through in all of your work, but especially the past 3-4 years.

"Sure, it took a lot of smart people to get us into space, but we never would've gotten there if we weren't too stupid to stop trying."

You could’ve coasted. After ten years, the “anime guy in his mom’s basement“ bit could’ve calcified into routine—easy views, recycled scripts, cruise control. But somehow, it didn’t. You’ve kept squeezing new shapes out of the same space, finding fresh ways to turn a phrase, drop a reference, or tug something emotional out of something pixelated. And tug out new tissue and plot jokes.

I’m not a screenwriter. I’m not even a writer, really. But I know what it looks like when someone’s still trying—still working the language, still putting care into the corners most people scroll past.

This list isn’t just ten anime. It’s ten years of not giving up on making something thoughtful. Thanks for that, Geoff.

It's after midnight, you can't do this to me 😭

Thank you SAO for bringing My Mother’s Basement to my attention. Congratulations!

So much respect for playing my favorite moment of Mob Psycho 100 at the start of its segment.

Jeff your “Cory On the House is the best anime” April fools video is one of the first messages I ever sent to my wife when I wanted an excuse to talk to her outside of work and she talked about how she liked Full Metal Alchemist.

Thank you for the amazing content over the years and while I don’t catch every video, each one always gives me more appreciation for this art and makes me not feel like such a lone nerd.

As a long-time FMA:03 stan, thank you so, so much for giving it it's due here.  I've been perpetually saddened by the many years of people just saying to skip it and go straight to Brotherhood without recognizing that there's more to an adaptation than just how much of the source material it adapted.  The tone and presentation between both give an entirely different feel and the different story presentations present different ideas for you to ponder on as a watcher.  Thanks for giving '03 it's due as its own experience rather than just "the one that came before the 'real' adaptation."

Can't believe I've been watching you for 10 years. Sorry. I never comment. But through all of the years. I've always found your videos to be some of the most insightful and helpful for understanding stories on the entire internet. Thanks for every video and review over the years. Pls keep up the excellent work. We also have the same #1 anime of all time

i started watching your videos for your roasts, but as others in the comments have said, i've stuck around for your pure joy, enthusiasm, and passion for anime. i love hearing you talk about anime you hate, but i LOVE hearing you talk about anime you love. keep it up, and i'll keep watching (even if sometimes it takes me 3 weeks to get to it)

This video is so polished for so many reasons:

1) Your love for your job and anime are in the forefront.
2) You shutdown comment hatred before the video started.
3) You hit almost every genre in your top ten which is more than others I've seen!

Congrats on your success! You got here from passion! As a long time viewer, I'm excited to give your podcast a try! Cheers!
