I am 67 and grew up with horses. My stepfather was a real old-fashioned cowboy from Texas, and he tried to teach me how to break and ride horses. He was taught to completely dominate and force horses to do what he wanted. My gut told me that that was no way to treat an intelligent sensitive animal. He broke a number of horses and broke a number of his bones, too. He told me horses are not your friend, and you had to always show them who was the boss. Even if you had to use a whip. He thought I was a complete wimp for trying to convince the horses to trust me and developed a relationship with them. When I was 10 I worked with a Mandan Indian who worked with horses. His approach was completely different from my stepfather's. He was kind, hands on, and worked on trust.  I was lucky enough to work on a couple of cattle ranches in Idaho and the ranchers let me work with their horses. They were surprised at what I could do with those old-fashioned trained horses. I loved every minute. I love the way Pat understands and works with horses.

Patience understanding kindness firm but kind that’s what most horses need

I would suggest people not buying an unexperienced horse if you are that too, why not have fun learning :)

During the intro I thought he was going to conclcude with "but you can call me... the horse whisperer." I was all ready to facepalm

This man told me decades ago at a clinic way before he became famous that a good horse eats as much as a bad one and I should just get rid of the horse.   It's crazy that he's now extremely wealthy making the big bucks off other people's "bad" horses.   Lol

Every horse knows that the Parelli system works very well. If it doesn't work for you, it's not because the system doesn't work. It's because you haven't put enough effort into learning the system.

I learned everything from Pat Parelli. From zero to hero with my horses. Thank you Pat.

Loved the Parelli program since the early 90’s. Couldn’t have had the relationship with my horses if it wasn’t for Pat Parelli and Linda.  Thank you Pat!

25:00 the horse in the background agrees with pat lol

0:06 she’s like “here lemme show you how I like being tied up.” 😂😂

Absolutely ❤ Pat PareIli! I saw him in about 1987 and went through his clinic with my paint mare. I learned so much from Pat and I am so grateful for that all these decades later. I remember he had Vincent assisting him and he hadn’t even met his wife yet. I first saw him in Livermore, California and was just in awe at his ability and gentleness. All these decades later the methods still make sense. I earned triple Master degrees in Clinical Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy and General Psychology. The Parelli method is one of the best training methods around.

Good Lord, give that lady a rocking chair and find that horse someone with horse sense!

I only saw Parelli work once, at "Road to the Horse" in Murphreesboro TN.  He was there with Clinton Anderson and Chris Cox.  Nobody had an entourage with a bunch of equipment except Parelli.  The first and only person to be bucked off was Parelli though I thought Andetson had the most right brained horse.  Chris Cox ended up winning the competition.  Oh at the beginnig of the competition each man chose his horse from a group of msybe 20 horses.  Chris chose the calmest horse, a little gray gelding.  Parelli chose a little nondescript sorrel and Clinton chose a big, high energy reactive sorrel.

Thank you

The horses tail had a fair bit cut from it also

Im pretty new to the channel but this is such an amazing video I can not wait to see more!

I have a little bay mare that looks just like this and her name is BELLA lol!
