Your parents are such gems!!   My Hubby once got a scam call and he decided to play along.   The scammer said Hubby owned him money and he wanted $250 in gift cards or he was going to call the police.  Hubby stated he didn't have $250 and that he couldn't pay.  Then listen for the sirens because I called the police on you, they will be there soon.   Hubby-- Ah, I don't think so because I would be the one responding to the call---   I AM the Police and I'm working right now...and I'm tracing this call and calling the FBI!!!   He said you could hear the sonic boom of the guy disconnecting the call!!!  (He was actually sitting in the police station working and the call came in on the department phone!!!)

Mike's Dad used to volunteer on the floor of a hospital I worked at as a nurse, in the Baltimore area in the early 2000s.  I can confirm- he is hilarious, & extremely kind.

"scammer with bad grammar" creased me up.

Her ability to turn a phrase is astounding.

About 10 yrs ago my dad got a phone call from a scammer wanting him to invest money. Dad turned the tables on him, told him he was on his yacht in the Bahamas. Kept him on the line for hours BSing him. Finally got an address to "mail him cash". Cleaned out the litter box and sent him a box of cat sh!t. He called the police fraud unit in that city across the country, told him what he did and gave them the address he sent it to. And an arrest was made!!!!

Easy to tell where Mike gets his sense of humor. His Mother is a gem.

The fact your mom trolled your father is funny as hell. She is awesome.

This is why we love your parents. They are a national treasure.

One time I kept getting a scam call from the same number. I usually ignored or hung up if I did answer. One day I decided to start calling him, I called continously until he blocked me!! 😂

She is the funniest mom out there!  I love your mom.  Tears rolling down my face.

Take your 91 year old Dad, hug him and never let go.
I just lost my 91 year old Dad (1932-2024) three weeks ago.
You never know how much they really mean to you until you lose them.

Your mother needs to keep writing. This one was a gem 💎 😂

When my dad got that grandma scammer call he gave a fake name (Henry) to them. They immediately said "Yes Grandpa, it's Henry"  Then he said "Well, Henry, I never did like you.  I hope you rot in jail."

Your Mother is a national treasure.

Someone should offer an online grammar class for scammers. And when they sign up, drain their bank accounts. That's called irony!

Very funny story! Glad your parents don’t get taken in Mike! My dad got a call from someone who said “Grandpa?” My dad assumed it was one of his grandson’s and said “X?” The caller then identified himself as grandson X, and told Dad he’d been driving drunk, got in an accident in Canada, and needed money for his bail. Dad immediately responded “X, if you were driving drunk, you need to stay in jail until you sober up and learn your lesson!” And hung up the phone. They did call X’s mom to verify that X wasn’t actually in Canada. No, he was home in bed. Such a perfect grandpa response!

My mom started every phone conversation the exact same way...  "Bear... its your mother".  It always cracked me up.  I once exclaimed to her "... who else would be calling me from the phone number you have had since I was 9 weeks old?"  I was 48 at the time of this story.  My mother replied "your father."

I wasn't expecting that response and it kinda threw me.  Set aside the fact that there was no mistaking my fathers booming voice for hers, it was common knowledge that my father had never physically called one of his children on his own.  He always asked Mom to do the dialing and, after a quick "Bear... its your mother.  Your father wants to talk to you", she would hand him the phone.

That was when I realized that, for the very first time, my very strict, incredibly straight laced and serious catholic mother had just demonstrated sarcasm.... and we both busted into laughter.

I love how much Mike enjoys his Mom's stories. He's her #1 fan.

Your parents are an absolute riot!!!  You raised them right.  Laughter is the best medicine.

Your mother is the BEST troll around! You have the best parents Mike, I'm so jealous.
