The Tobu 90000 series is being introduced to replace older trains. Surprisingly, the 30000 series, which is younger and uses VVVF control, was chosen first, ahead of the 9000 series and the 10000 series (which had inferior service and was not fully refurbished). Why is that? Perhaps it's a replacement drama typical of Tobu Railway, which stubbornly refuses to upgrade its equipment.
