I have a Zoom MS50G from 2012 and a QC Mini from 2025, which are obviously from very different ends of the spectrum. I use the Zoom as a backup and also I practice at home with it about 50% of the time. Obviously they are very far apart when it comes to features, but just basic sounds from the Zoom don't really sound that bad at all when they are EQ'd properly and you hear it in the mix with other instruments. The QC is obviously much more versatile and has way more DSP power so that you can create very elaborate rigs with it with tons of options, whereas on the Zoom you have to change presets to change tones which results in a small gap in the sound (and you lose your delay/reverb tails in the process). What I'm trying to say is that I think the Zoom sounds perfectly fine and I would be fine using it on a gig. The QC does sound better overall but the Zoom sounds good enough to use live.

One thing I've noticed is, when I stop comparing, I don't care. I'm pretty much happy with whatever. As soon as I start thinking "hmm maybe that other thing is better" or "is this as good as" I become sort of miserable in the comparison.

I just sold my POD Go, loved it, maybe will even upgrade to a Helix at some point. I have the Valeton GP-150 for now. When comparing the 2 the Valeton wasn't as good. Now that the POD Go is gone, I never have that thought. I just think when dialing in a new tone, "that sounds good enough".

I think the tones are more or less interchangeable, however once you need a crazy stereo delay or sweet swirly reverb, nothing on the 180 is going to help you, unless they have better algos than I have available on the GP50.

If gp180 sounds too buzzy use global eq and bell cut 300-500 hz maybe

Line 6 sounds better to me. I've had a Stomp since it came out but they always sound better when other people use them. I have a GP-5 which I like but the one use these days for gigs and open mics is the Boss GX-1.

The problem I'm seeing is each unit is designed to perform differently.  I would have created the sound on the Line 6 unit to match the Valeton with the same or similar sound. Just using the same configuration on the Valeton that you did on the Line 6 isn't a fair comparison IMPO..  What you showed was a tinty Valeton sound that could certainly be avoided.  I'm a long time Line 6 user.  Had the original Pod thru the helix and finally the Pod Go before I got rid of it all.  Just like guitars these days, modelers don't have to be expensive to sound good.  Tons of videos on that subject.  I have the GP-180 and with tweaks, I can get it to sound excellent for the $135 I paid versus the $1400 I paid for the Helix or the $450 I paid for the Pod Go.  All those units are great.  I'm just suggesting each unit has to be tweaked accordingly to get the sound.  I'm extremely happy with the Valeton and I'm sure everyone who bought my old Line 6 stuff is happy as well.  Cheers!

I would hope the Stomp XL sounds better. However the Valeton is more in my price range. I couldn't justify a Stomp for the price. Was going to buy a GP-50 but there was GP-150 open box available at a discount. Couldn't pass it up. For my needs, living room rock star, it works great.
