Those split rims are a real blast. The shops in my area would take them off, put on the new tires but I had to put the rims back on and then air up the tires.

That is quite the fine they stopped putting Datsun  badges on them in 1974 and then in 1976 they went to split rims three windscreen wipers the dash pad power brakes and they also extended the trans case leaves and installed a heater demister
Look after it it’s quite a find

My dad had  the short wheel base ,one of the first to come into Aus . Did 400,000  MILES, one engine rebuild. Transmission and diffs were bullet proof. Holden Stromberg carb improved fuel consumption and smoother running at low speed. They were actually a scaled up Willys jeep . Hard leaf springs gave terrible ride off road.

That was an excellent resuscitation dude.  I keep being amazed at how tough the old Japanese makes are.   I'm a big Nissan fan.   The 4x4 session at the end was really good - that was a TREAT - wasn't expecting that nor how well the Patrol performed.   Great vids dude - keep up the good work.   That machine is a keeper - those are super rare - if you ever let machines like that go....you will miss it and regret it.  I would....  keep wrenching on the guy until it is really tip top - blast the undercarriage - get the rust eliminated and/or rust-converted and shellac with heavy duty rhino linings etc. to keep the rust gone.

I owned a 1978 SWB model. Have a careful look at the 4WD instructions on the firewall. Engage 4WD on shippery roads. There is a manual throttle control under the steering wheel for hand crank starting. Pull it out and turn clockwise to lock. I yelled at the screen, but you didn't hear me. I loved your vid. It brought back many memories.

Hi mate we have parts for a G60 on the place where I live. If you are looking for parts. In North Queensland.

The old man had one of these. I borrowed it on my P plates back in the 80's. I went to do a U turn, ended up doing a complete circle by the time I got the steering wheel all the way back around.
Tough old bastard of a thing though.

POINTS GAP, POINTS GAAAAAAAAAP!

Those hand cranks are fuarking terrifying aye.

What a beast. Funny seeing the G60 recuing the GQ.. Keep seeing a Swift Gti in the background of your workshop, is it a customer car or a personal build that we'll never see on this channel?

Gday mate ..I do spit rims all the time ..get an old fashioned bead breaker then do what you did with the leavers way easy then ..you must break bead on back and front ..hope that helps

It's nice to see that many of your vehicles have original issue dry cleaners radio antennas.

Cracking Ep and great work getting the old girl going,  My old Neighbour has still got the same Patrol and Colour as that he's owned since new

Well done mate , considering its age & condition, shes a proper off road tool......

When I was younger a man had one of those patrol with a 253 v8 used less fuel than petrol motor in the nissan

I'm sure you could see the points sparking at night time. 😀 would tune by turning the distributor slowly adjusting the timing, also needs a nice new aeroflow coil.

Tow start it  When warmed up you can crank it. I remember well hand cranking back when we raised pet dinosaurs  1960

Interesting video.
The Nissan Patrol 4x4 is new to me.
I grew up around Willy’s jeeps, old school Range Rovers,Toyota FJ’s, K5 Blazers and Ford Bronco’s & IH SCOUT 80’s.

Absolutely epic video mate - I wasn’t expecting the killer ending! Brilliant stuff 🍻
