Have a similar setup, although it's expanded significantly over the years. But careful with the DC-DC power unit, I had two of burn out, one almost caught fire. Switched to the DIN rail industrial version for reliability. In fact I now mount everything on DIN rails much more professional. You can get DIN rail boxes for the pi's and rail Hubs etc.
I switched the Pi5's to NVME drives to speed things up and increase reliability.
Expanded the system with a pi running the Victron GX app, captures all the data and displays it using Grafana on a 2nd screen.

What AIS transmitter are you using? I had a MAIANA and that worked great with openCPN, but they don't make them any more 😢

I hope you list out where you found these bits, I'm about to order a Pi to start down this road.

Also in Scotland! Can I ask where you got the charts for openCPN for Scotland? There seems to be little free and I don't like perpetual subscriptions! I also checked if one could, ahem, fly the jolly rodger, however there is, quite paradoxically not much nautical piracy these days!  Getting the feeling one may need to purchase it. British Isles and Europe (both Scandinavia northern coast and med is what I'm looking for) all the free stuff seems to be US based and would mean I'd drifted very far off course!!

Hi nice overview.  What maps are you using for open cpn?  Such a shame the free ones are only for the USA.
