I read the book in my 20's, decades ago. Never thought I would see a screen adaptation. They really pulled it off. There were various changes made for the film, but everything works. The speed in the book was 4 mph and there were 100 walkers. Also, the ending was different.
Excellent reaction to an excellent film.
Please consider reacting to Weapons and Midsommar.

Charlie Plummer who plays Barkovitch did an incredible job. He doesn’t get enough recognition for nailing such a difficult role.

I’ve watched 3 reactions before this, and you’re the first one to notice the writer break his ankle when he did

The actor who played Ray is Phillip Seymour Hoffman’s (RIP) son. Glad he took up his dad’s trade and seems to has his talent

The most bone chilling thing about this movie is the world they've all accepted. Pete mentioned earlier that it wasn't the families fault for being conditioned to admire the long walk and its cruelty. And it really shows in the end when people cheered for an innocent boy getting executed, but were frightened when the boys killer was heald at gun point. They did an outstanding job making this reality feel fucking horrific.

I don't think anyone mentioned this in the comments, but when this book originally came out in '79, Stephen King wrote this in his perspective of how he viewed America during the Vietnam war. So the idea of the long walk being a contest was really how young men were manipulated being drafted into the Vietnam war. Along with this though that's a haunting detail is the cheering and chanting towards the end of the movie. During that period of time there was a lot of propaganda showing what was happening in Vietnam but being painted as America doing something good, so that patriotism is an inflection of how blind people are to reality.

We saw this in theaters and after Olsen my husband asked if we needed to leave, I was SOBBING. I knew Art was gonna break your heart as soon as you said Louisiana was home😭😭😭

The sheer dread this film evokes is so well executed, pun not intended

Bro this movie had my chest hurting in the theater 😩

I'm sorry after crying along with you, and you come out and say "what's the point of wearing make up for this video" got a chuckle out me. Great reaction.

Curly is in a phenomenal movie called Jojo Rabbit. I highly recommend it if you haven’t seen it yet.

"... Oh he's gonna kill him. Yep! Do it!"

That's the kinda positive reinforcement Ray needs lol 😂 My wife said the same thing.

Girl you are brave asf, I could never upload myself watching this I was a mess the entire second half of this movie. Amazing video

Very intense emotional movie had me crying

great reaction!! i think you're the only person i've seen who also suspected that pete dies when everyone on the street disappears... i think considering how many guns he has trained on him in that moment it makes the most sense. he's been walking his entire life and in death he just continues walking 💔

"God bless her - for her sweet compassion..."
'A Tale of Two Cities'

out of all the other reactions to this movie, this was for sure the best one. you truly understood and engaged with the story in all its complexities, and seeing you feel so sincerely for the characters and their struggles was a highlight ❤

You could say that The Long Walk is King's first novel if you don't count The Aftermath, which he wrote when he was 15 in 1963, but it was never published. Carrie was King's first published book in 1974. King had the idea for The Long Walk in high school at age 17 in 1965, then wrote it while he was a freshman at the University of Maine age 18-19 from 1966-1967, then revised or rewrote it age 28 in 1978, then it was published in 1979 as a Richard Bachman book. King was outed as Bachman in 1985. His publisher compiled his 4 Bachman Books into one collection containing Rage, Roadwork, The Long Walk and The Running Man. Misery was written to be published as a Bachman book, but King was outed while it was still being written so it was published as a King book. King has since published more books under the Bachman name including Thinner, The Regulators (a twinner book Desperation), and Blaze.

This is one of the best reactions I've ever seen. Not just on The Long Walk, but in general, this is one of the best reactions.🔥

I love how this is basically just the full movie.
