This video was originally published as part of OneTake's MONTH OF TERROR. An event in 2025 where I released one horror movie review per day throughout the month of October. The kids chase scene was the best on foot chase scene since Point Break

It’s a good movie. But the witch is a bit dumb. I think they would investigate a little harder if the one boy didn’t disappear. And they would easily triangulate where they went from security and doorbell cams. A smarter witch would make Alex disappear too.

The guy who plays the police chief was in the original mid-70s Freaky Friday, and was also Martys brother in BTTF! I didn't notice that while watching the movie, but you made me pay attention. And now I feel so old

Something I wish Zach did more of in this film was unreliable narration. We only see it once with the cop going into the bar and the girl changed from her memory of the story. It was a good idea, but only happening in that one part made it feel like it fell flat and was unintentionally added

The weird tree had something more to do with all this. It may actually be the one in control. And has even been since the 1800s. Using the witch as its human familiar. The mention of cordyceps seems to support this.

Alex didn’t have clown makeup on, it’s to represent Gladys.

Your format and getting right to the point and talking very clear and precise makes these videos really enjoyable even if I’ve already watched another review on the movies

You’re doing a great job making videos brother. Don’t be scared to review older movies too! Like 2000s - current. There’s so many good old movies nobody reviews OR that could use a “current” review.

Some movie ideas:
The cube movies
Darkness falls
The grudge movies
The forest
Splinter
Cabin fever movies
Hostel movies
Room 1408
Slither
Etc etc etc

Justine is a mandated reporter too

This is a great review, an excellent reconstruction of the nonlinear story. About that story, though. I knew it had lost me when all I heard when Gladys was being chased at the end was the Benny Hill music. The police not going IMMEDIATELY to the house security cam footage was way too much disbelief for me to suspend. Which is a pity, because the first 2/3 or so of the film are phenomenal. So much so, I lost interest in the kids and wanted to know more about Justine's backstory. She is by far the most interesting character in the film. (N.B. My wife is an elementary school teacher not dissimilar in appearance to Garner). And this is when I remember, oh right, I am not a horror fan so much as someone who sometimes dips into horror-adjacent films.

Meanwhile, I think you are right. Cregger was so committed to his deep and valuable metaphors, and to the multiple POV, that he lost sight of basic plot mechanics. The police have bad moments, sure, but this was impossibly ludicrous. All that said, I was thrilled Amy Madigan won her second Oscar.

I will be curious to see how well this film holds up in 10, 20 years.

I just thought about this, but i wonder what would’ve happened if anyone just so happened to see one of the kids running and tried to stop them

Great Movie. The gun in the air almost ruïned it for me

fire ass channel been binging these

Some say Zach was thrusted into success after Trevor Moore "fell" from his balcony

How is it no house on Alex’s street caught on a ring camera all the kids running to Alex house?

I almost didn't watch this film because so many of the people I discuss horror films with said it wasn't that great. I couldn't disagree more, I thought this movie was very creative and left the door open for not only a cool sequel but demands a prequel! I insist on a comprehensive origins film on witchy Aunt Gladys! What a great performance!

Very cool.
