This could lead to a new movie... "The UMPIRE Strikes Back"

Haven't you watched "NAKED GUN?" Frank Drebbin threw out 2 umpires, then pulled a gun.

After that outburst, there was no way he was going to be impartial through 9 innings. Good that he got the boot.

He was relieved of all umpire duties indefinitely

The umpire who got ejected from a minor league baseball game was Warren Nicholson. He was removed from the Frontier League game between the New York Boulders and Tri-City ValleyCats after a heated argument with Boulders second baseman Tucker Nathans. The altercation began when Nicholson requested the Boulders to remove a league-permitted tablet from their dugout, which Nathans accused them of using to steal signs. The argument escalated, leading to Nicholson's ejection and Nathans' removal as well. The incident lasted over an hour, causing a delay in the game, and it was described as an unfortunate and embarrassing moment for the league.

Update: The phone call was actually made to Angel Hernandez who said “Leave him alone, he’s doing great!”

Minor league umpire here. Unfortunately, he isn't released, but he's red tag. Meaning he is limited, and whatever games he has is under a microscope. He is union, and I will bet the house that his crew got disciplined as well.  As a plate umpire, there's proteccol we must follow.
Just by watching the entire incident. The lead umpire didn't handle it correctly.

Umpire Warren Nicholson in a screaming match, things escalated and Nicholson ended up initiating physical contact with one of the players. His career as an umpire is now over.

First and foremost, I want to thank you for this. For YEARS ive come onto youtube and watched fights, riots, ejections, etc in sports. Every few months I try to look up times that umpires/refs have gotten into physical fights, or were ejected themselves figuring over the long history of sports it had to happen more, but I can never really find anything. Now I can finally say I've seen it. My next child will be named after you Antonelli Baseball Bailey

As a first base umpire, I would have called an umpire meeting to get my facts in order before asking the iPad to be removed. You get all umpires on the same page, then less likely for the incident to escalate.

I saw Earl Weaver and Billy Martin toss umpires, but the umpires never left😄

When I was in Little League and umpire touched our manager. That was the last time he umpired a baseball game.

In Little League, I had the field umpire and home plate umpire disagree on a tag. It got very heated between the 2 and the home plate umpire threw out the fielding umpire. It's the funniest memory of my youth baseball days 😂😂.

Extremely high impulsivity is kind of an no-go personality trait for any sort of sports referee.

Nicholson was replaced by an umpire who lived nearby. The incident also prompted the Boulders to remove a center field TV camera in response to the accusations of sign-stealing.

UPDATE Matt: It was a Frontier League game between the New York Boulders and Tri-City ValleyCats. The Umpire, Warren Nicholson, ejected Boulders Infielder Tucker Nathans, which is what caused the argument and screaming match. Interestingly enough... the incident also involved cheating allegations by the ValleyCats manager, former MLB player Pete Incaviglia. The Boulders removed their television camera in centerfield after Incaviglia alleged the team was using it to steal signs.

He wasn't fire. But, he isn't a fulltime umpire either. All I could find is him umpiring in an Atlantic League of Professional Baseball (ALPB) game and a college game in 2024, then a single MLB Draft League game in 2025. Seems like his career is extremely limited now, doing stuff like working as part of the umpire crew for the annual FDNY vs. NYPD game at Citi Field in August 2025. He's active with the United Umpires.

I am 71.   Lifelong player and fan.  NEVER ever seen this before.

Pride. Arrogance. Anger. Machismo. That’s all.

Dude what a great video, good laugh. Not to sure someone with that kind of temperament should be an umpire, referee or any other kind of sporting official. Kind of a big part of the job

I'm Glad the Ump got the Boot 👢. He hit the player!
