Thanks for watching! I really enjoyed the deep dive into the history of the word football, so let me know what topic I should cover next. More sports crossover content? Or dive deeper into (American) football? Let me know!

Bro, your videos are amazing. Keep em coming!

The noise of crowds hustling over large balls is still a problem on certain nights in certain parts of London

8:35 irony of Francis being the ‘toughest guy in the room’

I personally think the Francis Campbell side is the smart one. The American side of his game consistently wins the "World Cup" of gridiron in the NFL because no one else plays it. The Ebenezer Morley side? Haha. England only won the World Cup once in 1966.

Other than that I really enjoy your videos and appreciate the work.

There are 7 major codes of Football, not just 3 like this video suggests. All of them share a line back to the origins so no one really can claim to be 'football'. I know its a complex story and you did pretty well, but its still missing a lot of the story. Like the early codes that were really soccer but you could catch the ball and the influence of old games like hurling, Gaelic football and shinty.

They still play that mob-ball in the midlands somewhere.
Rugby,  Futbol and Gridiron football share more similarities than people think

I heard the chicken chime from Mother 2/Earthbound when he said French Softness.
sorry had to

Football is the dominant local code. Its that simple. If you're in Manchester, Miami or Melbourne that sport is different. When soccer zealots try to play the Cheshire Cat and tell you only their sport is football, just say - OK, make your sport the dominant code of football here and it will be called football. Till then, cry me a river. In any case, the term football was coined to differentiate sports played on foot from sports played on horseback, not which part of the body strikes the ball. Which means baseball, cricket, volleyball, handball, hockey and basketball are all foms of football.

4:52 surely the year is wrong. 1921?

The world doesn't know it as soccer the world minus a few nations knows it as football

EAT-un.  EAT-in, not ee-TON
