Your attitude to teaching is perfect!
I'm a retired secondary school teacher and I really agree with your methods:
1) set standards don't accept anything less
2) don't over praise - totally agree with this and it happens far too much in schools
3) is this how I want the future dog to be? Again spot on and I definitely kept that in mind when raising my kids! Is this how I want my adult child to be (spoilt, anxious, incapable, lazy).
4) In your other videos you've mentioned not imagining the dog will somehow learn things as they get older and don't need to be taught the right behaviours - absolutely. And again same with kids.

Recently found your channel, didn't take long before I subscribed. I will now look through your video list to see if I can find something that will help with my 3 year old Black Lab / Brittany Spaniel cross, which I have had from rescue for nine months. My issue isn't an untrained dog, rather one that has been trained to be a prison sniffer dog, but didn't make the grade so was given to a rescue. The dog has obviously been trained, with some major omissions (Lead, Recall, other dogs). It has been a nine month slog on one hand, but delight on the other. So, if I had a question, it would be Would you approach training any differently for such a dog.

You say she’s exercising and training at home. At what age would you take them into a village or town? To get used to the sounds, traffic, people, irresistible smells etc so as not to be afraid. You need a reliable heel for this?

How old did you start the heel work?
