44:46 it’s not on public display because it’s being guarded by a death bird. Great Intelligence weapon, 10/10 would recommend.

You can probably find most of these in the treasury of an ancient Mesopotamian king dressed in gold armor.

Important to note that the "Baghdad Battery" has been very solidly disproven to be a battery

38:13 Honestly one of the coolest legends I’ve read. You guys should give it a try. Shenron vibes 🔥🔥

Hi Connor, I hope in the next part of this iceberg includes the horn of Lehel which is a very famous hungarian artifact

The scroll situation is why archeology is such a tedious process. A lot of it is cataloguing things. Back in the days when things weren’t so procedural and formal, random rich dudes used to just pay the local governments to destroy the hell outta sites looking for stuff cause there was no oversight.

Really enjoying this series. Big fan of relics and legendary items.

Just a tip on the Susanoo pronunciation - depending on the Romanization, it can be somewhat misleading for English speakers. The Os should be separated as different syllables, like "Su-sa-no-oh." The "-oh" suffix is an honorific, basically, meaning "king." Sometimes you will see it rendered as Susanō, which I feel is the better method.

As a general rule, always separate double vowels. Syllables will either be a consonant + vowel cluster or a stand alone vowel (or possibly an "N" at the end of a word). This will apply at the beginning of words as well. For example, Uematsu is U (oo) - E (ay) - Ma - Tsu. It makes sense when you're looking at it in Japanese, because each character will be its own syllable. Overall, it's actually not too difficult, once you get the vowel sounds, since pronunciations are always consistent.

Chinese, on the other hand... 😆

I feel like a Legendary Artifact just being here! Durandal is such a cool name and I love that we have a verrrry modern mystery in the latest replica getting snatched last year 😂

I saw the Hope Diamond in the museum and it was like the main attraction. So many people were crowding to see it. It was like the pictures of the filled room of people trying to see the Mona Lisa

YES! I've been impatiently waiting for this since the first part! It's such a a great idea for an iceberg. Thank you for dropping this!

Meteoric iron artifacts are actually relatively common, especially in societies that hadn't actually discovered how to smelt iron. The reason is because nickel-iron meteorites are pure nickel-iron (mostly iron). So even if folks didn't know how to smelt iron from iron ore, they could work the pure nickel-iron from a meteorite.

I'm from the DC area. Seen the Hope Diamond many many times. It used to be larger than it is now, by something like half the size it is now. Very impressive and as far as diamonds go, quite beautiful.
