Switzerland in winter, from Interlaken and the Crash Landing on You pier in Iseltwald up to snowy Wengen, then across the border into France to finish in Colmar.
Megan and I spent our December trip based around family. We started in Interlaken, made the stop every K-drama fan makes at the CLOY pier in Iseltwald, and then took the train up to Wengen to actually stand in the snow. It was -5°C, which for two people from Melbourne felt like a lot. We warmed up with coffee in Wengen and had pasta back in Interlaken.
Our cousin lives in Basel, which meant two things. First, a night of Vietnamese instant ramen at their place, which hit harder than anything we ate in a restaurant that week. Second, a grocery run across the border into France, because that's apparently what Basel locals do. Watching the whole family treat a supermarket trip like a mission was the funniest part of the trip.
We also squeezed in a day in Zurich before heading to Colmar, which looks like it was built for Christmas. We ended the trip with dinner at A Côté Winstub, a Michelin Bib Gourmand spot, and it was the right way to close it out.
