don’t need to be a k-pop stan to like bts haha, i am only a bts fan, an army

Your boyfriend didn't convert you because BTS finds you when you really need them. 😂 That's the lore in the fandom but also true. I went for years hearing about BTS but resisting checking them out until I was ready. Their lyrics are top notch, whether it's BTS or any of their solo works, nothing but quality. They put insane amount of work into all the little details and tickle your brain.

not sure about other kpop groups but bts is the one group whose songs' lyrics are a masterpiece. They are KNOWN for their introspective lyrics.

as a korean i never thought to connect the idea of swim to korea being a peninsula! so true and very relevant to the traditional korean influences in this album

For someone who knows nothing about BTS, you did a great job analyzing the lyrics. You managed to catch the major meaning of most tracks without any context. You'd probably be even more gagged if you knew all the context of what they've been through and how they're viewed among different groups of people.

their relationships and sexualities are none of our business, we respect their privacy as fans

19:55 bts' roots are hiphop, the first members were literally underground rappers with basically no dancing or singing experience, before plans changed bts was supposed to be a hip hop group with no choreography

I thought the "will you color me red, will you color me blue. two sides of the coin and they both ain't true" was in reference to the S.Korean flag's red/blue taegeuk in the middle which represents the universe's harmony and the cosmic positives (red) and cosmic negatives (blue), basically yin and yang. Therefore saying like you can paint me in a positive light (fans) or a negative light (antis or critics), but neither perspective is the correct one as fame twists the framing. Like they are both at the same time, and not black and white.

Not a big fan of KPOP as a whole but BTS music??? It doesn’t sound like a typical kpop album. It’s fire wow

this album is basically made for music Nerds 😭 and I LOVE THAT cause I consider as someone who appreciates literally all kinds of music

BTS made this album for music lovers.

If you have Netflix I think you’d enjoy watching the live Arirang comeback concert. One thing you’ll see is the traditional singers performing the ancient Korean song Arirang as part of Body to Body.

BTS’s roots are Korea, each other and Hip Hop. This album is them returning to their roots and finding a new trajectory.

Love that you read the lyrics. BTS always have amazing lyrics.

About N 29, the track actually carries a much deeper meaning and holds significant symbolic value in korean cultural history. At the same time, it is also a unique privilege that only BTS could achieve in this ARIRANG album!
Specifically, the bell sound heard in No. 29 comes from the Bell of King Seongdeok-the National Treasure No. 29 of кояєа, a cultural heritage artifact from the Silla dynasty.
This directly explains the track's title. Within the structure of the ARIRANG album, it serves as an important transition. The preceding tracks are more intense and powerful, so this segment slows the tempo without breaking the album's continuity.
More strikingly, beneath that sound lies a tragic legend.
According to folklore, after multiple failed attempts to cast the bell, as it would not produce sound, people believed a sacrifice was needed to "give it a soul." A child was thrown into the molten metal, and the completed bell later produced a unique sound resembling the cry "emille," meaning "mother." This haunting sound became the origin of the bell's name and turned it into a symbol that is both sacred and deeply sorrowful in korean

No. 29 is the sound of the Sacred Bell of the Great King Seongdeok, which is South Korea's national treasure number 29. The time is how long it takes for the frequency of it to end. You can think of it is a part of the album to cleanse out from the hyper songs, like a very cultural transition.

What an amazing reaction full of insight, especially considering you're not a BTS stan. I loved your analyses of each song & its lyrics. 10/10 minus nothing. You lovely lovely human being. Keep up the good work.

One of my favorite Arirang album reactions!  For a non-ARMY, you totally got them and it makes us feel so good that they are reaching people out there as long as people listen to them with an open heart.

BTS actually got me to delve deeper into western pop than I had, a reason I’ve been a subscriber of yours for a while. They’re the act I stan. Thanks for giving them a chance. The full discography is wildly diverse with great lyricism so enjoy. The best older annotated translations are the Muish and Doolset blogs, but we also have big ARMYtwt translation accounts. Tell your bf hi for me. 💜

Finally someone acknowledge the vocoder 😭😭😭😭
