Inside the GREYLOCK TAPES, Evil Takes Form

Not too long ago, an analog horror series created by Rob Gavagan was released that not only demonstrated the lengths we can push the genre, but made us fear what lies behind the fragile mask we call “humanity”.
And tonight, we’re going to take a hard look not only at this mystery, but what darkness may lie within us all.

In the vast, dense forests of Massachusetts, there lies a mountain.
And in that mountain, there lies a presence born from the darkest reaches of our mind.
Inside Mount GREYLOCK… evil takes its form.

!!!DISCLAIMER!!!
It has been brought to my attention that there have been things that the creator has been called out for that I 100% do not approve of, and I want it to be understood that this is for viewing purposes only.
This is not meant to harm or hurt anyone in any sort of fashion, as I know while many of us have enjoyed this series, there are some things that cannot simply be ignored or forgiven.

Greylock, to me, did something not a lot of other videos have done: it made me think. You begin to question things, and wonder why something fictional makes you very uncomfortable.
Tell me your thoughts and the like below!
Also, do watch till the end... there's something some of you might want to see!

Oddly enough, I don't think the pregnancy phenomenon actually hurt any babies, not any "real" ones, at least. There's this interesting medical phenomenon called a hysterical pregnancy, in which someone isn't ACTUALLY pregnant, but becomes so convinced that they are that their body reacts as if there's an actual fetus forming in there, even as the womb stays empty. Consider this phenomenon of bodies faking pregnancy where none exists through the sheer power of belief with the themes of this series, and an obvious conclusion can be drawn: none of the victims of this phenomenon were ever truly pregnant with real biological human children. All the babies that vanished from the womb and turned up in that later clip were actually thoughtforms spawned by hysterical pregnancies and mimicking real ones, right up until something more powerful in the area called them out of hiding.

Living half an hour away from mount greylock makes it much more unsettling 😭

The line: "where is your precious daughter jim" is such a gut punch that is disturbingly after watching the video.

I could feel both physically and mentally the immense hate and malice in that “LIAR” scene.

I'm pretty sure the security system starts the "coronary system" instead of "culinary system", which makes sense when you consider it's also trying to access the morgue camera.

Kennel Dogs kept me up for days, the body horror of it was so disturbing I couldn't believe this series was free.

so we're screwed if we manifest our overpowered oc's as thoughtforms

Damn, I forgot Rob Dyke existed after he changed his name, crazy that he's branched out to making high quality horror. Thanks for this video, I like how you don't have any of the cringe gimmicks (random long pauses, sound effects, overbearing music and sound effects) other big channels have.

Honestly to this day nothing has stressed me out as badly as tape 2.

It literally feels like watching someone slowly stalk you through a warehouse.

The sermon gradually increasing, mixing with the man walking out to search, the bloodied tree, the panic and erratic way the car starts to drive after the slam as it crescendos.

It's the most stressful and anxious i've felt watching an analog horror.

If this tickled your fancy, "welcome to arcadia" or "midwest angelica" are also amazing. One of the episodes of arcadia is called 'the signal', its the best single episode of analog horror ive seen.

All of these jumpscares scared the hell out of me and my friends upon our first viewing.

Definitely one of the scariest analog horror series out there for me. It just makes me sick, gives me an exestential dread. Great video! Glad you covered it :)

I like the idea that the sacrifices were meant to keep the shadow in the mountain because it fits with the series' name: the mountain acting like a lock for the horror hid inside it. Good catch and very good video!

My assumption with the mutations is the it’s the result of a human unintentionally thoughtforming themselves. We’ve seen that thoughtforms can be altered via a similar method used to create them, so it’s possible the same thing can be used to alter humans (with… low levels of success). The reason it affected the crew on mount Greylocke so intensely was just because something in mount Greylocke seems to amplify the creation of thoughtforms, which is why unit 13 was built there.

That’s why Charlotte became one with her dogs, she loved them so much that her sheer will fused them together.

Tiffany being resurrected coukd also be explained by this. She was so distraught after the loss of her son that after her death she willed herself back to life as some sort of weeping revenant.

Haven't seen such a quality dog-amalgam since The Thing

I've heard the theory that the person filming in tape four, intruder, could have been the PI, as unlikely as that sounds I find it harder to believe a Thought form or corrupted worker would go through the effort of filming themselves entering a home.

The crackled mask and the creature that went after Charlotte and the dogs. If the creature is the thoughtform of the cracked mask, that has nasty implications.

Considering the "skin is moving" it clearly violates the idea of flesh and distorting positive ideas into something horrific.

Maybe the creature represents a twisted idea of power, lust and perfection, seeking to violate those who fall victim.

It has power over its victims, twists their minds and desires and flesh into its twisted mockery of the wish. Like a horrific genie.

I haven't seen anyone mention this so I'll put it out here because I thought it was cool
Throughout the whole section where Paul is trying to get a hold of Frank, Paul's picture slowly changes from smiling to frowning. Just thought it was a really neat detail. I love this analysis, it's very thorough!

Greylock is a masterclass on fucking around in a find out economy. The Thoughtform Manifester was the worst idea, and was never going to be a good plan, and was an especially bad plan in proximity to a place like Mount Greylock.

Simeodyne: "Making a tulpa is a process that takes decades of study, education, and mental discipline. So we here at Simeodyne have invented a neat chair that bypasses the process. So let's slap Jerry in the Thoughtform Manifester and see if he can imagine up a bunch of really big guns for the US Military."
