What does everyday life look like inside a village in Beijing?
In Pi Village, small shops, rooms for rent, and lanes barely wide enough for a car sit side by side. I walk through the main gate, pick up a 6-yuan iced Americano, browse the local supermarket, and follow the alleys wherever they lead.
A shop is selling off its stock. A knife sharpener calls out in the street. Rental notices cover the walls, and planes pass overhead. Between a lottery ticket, a curious cat, and a meal at a local halal restaurant, the walk becomes a glimpse of everyday life in this corner of Beijing.
Filmed from my point of view in Pi Village, Chaoyang District, where the city meets the countryside.
