I’m a 7th generation 71 year old West Aussie now living in Tassie. My mum who grew up in Fremantle,WA, middle name was “May” and her brothers always called her “Maysie”. Her dad enlisted in WW1 In 1914 and lived through that. In WW2 he wasn’t eligible for the Army but became a merchant seaman on a supply convoy ship for the UK. Forty years ago, I flew into Broome on business. On approach to the airstrip,  I looked down from about 800m, and there was a crocodile, just cruising along about 4km offshore.
No way to establish size, but he was "not small".
A good reason to use the hotel pool, rather than the ocean.

Great sunset over the Indian Ocean!  I'm surprised you didn't mention Broome getting bombed twice by the Japanese during WWII.  There's supposed to be a museum or memorial about it.  Maybe that's why the city looks so great--they had to rebuild it after the war.  The harbor was just choked by destroyed boats, planes etc.  Gosh, the turquoise sea is amazing.

When you get to the Pilbara, look out for the BHP ore trains. My father came out from England. Recruited as a loco driver back in the early 70s. He worked for what was then, Mount Newman Mining. Driving the train from Newman to Port Hedland. Boy oh boy did he have some stories to tell.

Broome is one of a few places in the world where you can see the Sunrise and Sunset over water.

I'm 59yo, been in Western Australia since 1981 and I have done a lot of country driving here. Long straight roads with plenty to see is very relaxing, I do enjoy it particularly when you conside the state is as big as Europe

Aussies raised before the Slip Slop Slap sunscreen and hat safety campaign post-1970s are dealing with skin cancer in their twilight years. It is the intense UV radiation that gives Australia the unfortunate label of skin cancer centre of the world.

Your arrival and journey through Broome, 5 stars fascinating as I somehow, on my first trip there (first time to Western Australia), occurred days before your video release!  I walked the same streets and sat doing nothing where you had your beer on cable beach, marveled at the ship trade at the entrance, was left speechless by the deep color contrasts, and was in awe of the legacy of the pearl divers, and the Japanese cultural heritage and very large Japanese cemetery where most had succumbed to drowning and constant decompression sickness.   It was a new look at Australia for me.  Thank you for so fully filling in gaps with your video recording and commentary on what I failed to capture while there.  Just what I needed, great stuff!
