It is not only perfume industry… it is everywhere… overconsumption culture, this is what it is…fast fashion, fast food, fast consumption…too many things do not make you happy, nothing feels special anymore. That’s why i am very very careful now to add full bottle in my collection, as i want each bottle be special too me, and i now only want only The Best!

I totally agree.. the fragrance world collapsed into consumerism… and the art has taken a back seat

Hi Demi! I love how thoughtful you are- I share many of the same feelings you do. So honoured to be mentioned! Sending love❤

I agree , I miss the day when 1 or 2 releases a year , gave you time to get to know it and decide if it’s worth it to you .

What I'm gonna say is not limited to fragrance industry, but I genuinely feel like this influencer culture is ruining the quality in many aspects of life! Influencers talking about topics they are not even remotely competent, just therefore the PR packages, encouraging consumerism. I believe the huge rises in RRP on consumer goods is partly a result of this unleashed PR competition among brands. Which also encourages brands to lower the quality. I am not happy with the customer culture we are living in. Everything has lost its value and we don't cherish the little innovations.

Demi gave away the game by saying the “cheaper” houses are using the same perfumers and fragrances houses to get their oils. People have been saying this for years but people have been in denial. Also outlining the fact that those houses are some of the fragrances supplier’s biggest clients due to how much oil they’re buying.

i started selling most of my collection. I dont work with perfumes, I will never use them up, I dont even like some of them that much. For the longest time I think it just gave me emotional comfort because other areas of my life felt empty

I will say, regarding "friends" in the workplace...that's how it is.  Period.  It's not just the perfume world.  We have coworkers we prefer more than others, but it's very rare that you become true friends outside of those walls.  Don't enter the corporate world if it's a hard thing to adapt to.  Because it's every. Single. Day.

This is why I limit myself to 4 per year! (One for each season). I have to REALLY love a scent to buy it because I’ve limited myself on how many I can buy

Hi Demi! Thank you for your honesty. Just like in the fashion industry, fast fashion leaked into the perfume world. We now have fast perfume. I think we should navigate it the same way. For me, it really depended on where I was in my life with my maturity, financial responsible standing and personal taste.  No lie, I appreciated forever 21 when I wanted to look decent and not break the bank in my younger years, however now that I’m in my 40’s I don’t have a single item in my closet from forever 21. I take my time now and choose more timeless and quality pieces. I feel the material, look at the stitching and overall quality. But I do this because I care about my clothes. When I first started my journey into fragrance, I didn’t really know any better and did the same thing and now I’m slowly decluttering and curating my collection. My purchases are more researched regarding materials, sustainability and intentional. There’s wayyy more sampling prior to purchasing. I do this because I care and my journey into fragrance is a hobby of love. I completely agree with you on so many points. I also believe fast perfumerism is not sustainable or responsible and will not last. Brands that are in it for the love of fragrance and not just the $$$, it will show. The frag connoisseurs will  see and smell the thoughtfulness and quality.  Side note, don’t let the current environment deter you from your goals or dreams. If you want to collaborate and have your perfume concept brought to life, by all means do it. Do it your way, slow, meaningful, etc. your honesty will show in your product. That’s just my humble opinion. The perfume field is blah right now, yes. I have to wade through a lot of sh*T to get to the gem.  Ah, will you be at scentxplore this year?

Proud of you for speaking your mind here, totally agree with everything you said here

Fragrance YouTube has definitely changed, and has turned into content creators that look/talk/act, etc. like copies of each other. At this point people are doing fragrance YouTube because it’s trending. Also, it’s evident that alot of people are just hyping fragrances to earn revenue from it(dishonest people). I am a small perfume channel, and things have really changed for the worse. The REAL passion for fragrance is almost completely gone 😔

Your videos where you sit and just have honest chats are my favorite. It feels very old school YouTube when we watched because it felt like hanging out with a friend. These days it feels like commercials for brands, which gets old. Huge fan of the channel and love your perspective in the fragrance space.

Im sorry but a big problem is influencers like Daniel René that love to create controversy, and create drama amongst one another. Also loves to talk bad about houses that don’t pay him. Another is the constant releases but they are all the same fragrance, people are filled with delinas because influencers don’t disclose it’s yet another dupe or they tell you the last one is the better version. Awhg!

“Allergic to fakeness” ❤ ME TOO!! 😂
Demi, THANK YOU for being totally authentic and BRILLIANT!!
I love collecting and smelling the vintage designer perfumes too!! MAGIE NOIRE is so special ❤

More inflencers = More brands = mediocre perfumes

4:08 Girl, it’s not just the fragrance industry that feels “off” nowadays. It’s everything. The greed and over-commercialization of absolutely everything is a really destructive force.

I am fatigued about the perfume industry too. All the new releases are exhausting and all the influencers pushing certain brands is so old. I am gravitating to older scents as well. The tried and true ones. I love that you mentioned Michael Kors….I may get one of those. I have loved them in the past.

The fact that you're not transactional is probably why your channel is interesting, because it is genuine!

3:07 Couldn’t agree more. The market is waaaaaaaay too oversaturated. Everyone and their cousin and their dog has a fragrance line. So many brands just come out of effing nowhere and think they can charge obscene prices right out the gate before they even have a chance to establish themselves as a brand. It’s insulting and obnoxious.
