So we played Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom as PIKACHU - an intense challenge run that almost broke us. Electric damage only, fruit and potions only, catch 'em all, and defeat a Thunder Gleeok, then beat the game.

Welcome to The Basement! The Basement is the friendliest place on YouTube.

In today's video, we walk you through what it was like to play The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom as Pikachu. Lots of challenges we didn't expect appeared as we tried to merge Pokemon with Zelda TotK.

Can it even be done? Beating the game with only Electric Damage?

That merch ad has to be the best ad I've seen in awhile and the best merch ad since the first one 😂

Haha, this reminds me of when Ted made Peter guess Pokemon names.

The only experience I've had with Pokemon is seeing about 2 minutes of the movie. In the movie, two Pikachu's were taking turns slapping each other and saying "Pikachu." That was my experience.

10:38 This was the perfect setup for a Detective Pikachu joke, and i'm honestly shocked that i've never heard that before.

Mineru's mech reminds me of Magearna a bit. They're actually pretty similar in some ways.

52:34 I love Dragon Quest! Who cares about where it was made? And the slimes are the cutest monsters ever.

Tip for fighting ganondorf if you have the master sword: put on the evil spirit armor and attach a silver lynel saber to it then wait until your in the battle to take it out*

Legends Arceus is my favorite Pokémon game… I really love the time period setting and aesthetic, and how it functions a bit like Monster Hunter with a hub village and different wild areas to visit. I love the lore of it too! It’s also a fun change of pace to be a researcher and not a champion. Plus the regional Pokémon forms in that game are so sick!! I have too many favorite Pokémon to count, but for gen 1 I love bulbasaur, lapras, and mewtwo! For more current gens, I love hisuian zorua and zoroark, clodsire, and tinkaton! I also love goodra and volcarona. My first game was X, which means my first starter was fennekin. But I have played all the games since then, including remakes of games I missed out on, like Omega Ruby and Let’s Go Eevee and Brilliant Diamond and stuff.

This challenge is so clever and fun! A merging of some of my favorite games franchises! Awesome and entertaining work as always, fellas!
